Peroghies? (I couldn't find a dictionary,anywhere, that had the spelling of that word.) So, I depended on a 50+ yr.old reminiscing of what some of my Polish neighbors used to treat us kids to "back-in-the-day". Don't those treats have sauerkraut & ham/corned beef in them?

Murph, my first thoughts exactly!!!!

During my high school years I dated the most beautiful girl from Half Moon, N.Y. who was descended from good Polish stock. Man, could her mom cook up a meal!!!! I'm kinda lost on the Mississippi Beer though.... I know of no brewery in this state that sells it.

I didn't give the beer any further thought because I had assumed (you know what that can lead to...) it was a relic - an antique bottle he just threw into the photo for effect and nostalgia, and maybe to give you a li'l tweek? Eh?

By the way, you just gotta find a way to send me a copy of that butt-bugler (in another posting of yours) ! I can think of sooooooo many friends who....ah....errr....well, "deserve" a view of such a quality fellow.

Yes! Yes, me too! I still carry a profound affection and respect for a Polish gal I met and dated in h.s. also. I can still smell the fragrances of her mom's kitchen - nothing like it. The sight and smells of long-familiar foods can bring back fond memories, very strongly, right?

Here on the left coast, our house and marriage are enduring installation of new hardwood flooring. Patagonian Cherry. Had to move everything on the first floor out into containers on the driveway. Beastly work.

Mississippi Mud is brewed in Utica, New York and is still available.

It is said to be watered down medium roasted malt body with a bit of dark fruit and the tang of cheap hops, certainly nowhere near mud - fizzy, thin and watery. I have never tasted Mississippi Mud Black and Tan but Andre confirms (...too lite) what others have said.

Well, in one swoop ,you gave me a destination to go for the brew; then, gave me reason no to go, considering the lackluster flavor you just described. I was about to put Utica on my itinerary for a trip upstate NY this coming weekend, during my pilgrimage for apples, near Cortland, NY, but you cured me of a needless experient w/such a drink. Thanks for the helpfulness (I'm serious.)

Yes!
the beer is fresh from Utica as Wayne said,$ 4 half gallon is not to bad.
and the "empanadas" is a common Spanish (Spain) food. Pastry stuffed with ground beef, onions and spices.....delicious if you try a Merlot wine.
and tasty beer as Mississippi Mud!!

Well, Murph, just because it isn't thick as mud doesn't make it a bad beer. Do not overlook...

The information I got from several internet beer sites all agreed that it is thinner than the name "Mississippi Mud" would imply, but some liked the flavor.

I think you should do a pilgrimage to Utica to purchase some Mississippi Mud and give your own report to MTJ (as Andre has done.)
