That's why I mentioned it to you. I figured, if anybody could put a value on it, that would be you.

If they made money from "IT" the last time they will do the movie again. Have to drain the last drops of blood money from it. They have a captive audience that eats this stuff up.

I'm still working on why they made the re-make version - Curry as IT is hard to beat.....

Greed, greed, and more greed combined with a lack of imagination and will to go to the library where there are countless stories just waiting to be made into movies.

I have been running Apache now for many years; besides being freeware, the thing actually works with no hassles. Upgrades are painless and do what is advertised. The same with Firefox and Thunderbird.

Open Office is also freeware.

Apache is Open Office or rather Open Office is an Apache product.

What, get stupid? It is a gift I have. You probably don't have the gift or you wouldn't ask how to do it. :D

No how do you ignore updates? They seem to happen automatically when I turn off the computer.

A question I would not even think of asking on a train forum, "Now how do you ignore updates? They seem to happen automatically when I turn off the computer."

Why? From Aug ust21, 2019 to September 3, 2019 you have received 27 nonsense responses. I wouldn't even ask how to put my crayons in a crayon hopper on a train forum.

Answer to your question: You cannot ignore Windows 10 updates but you can stop them from happening for up to 35 days.

Click on the START button
Click on the SETTINGS button
Click on UPDATE and SECURITY
Click on Pause updates for 7 days

7 days not enough?
Click on Advanced options
Click on Pause updates. You can pause updates from being installed on your computer for up to 35 days, which is long enough for Microsoft to take care of most of the update bugs.

If the up-dates can't be stopped why bother putting them off for a week or five?

Roger asked:

Most of the issues with the updates revolve around serious security patches that MS knows will break about 5% of the systems out there but the severity of the security issue forced release before they could fully debug and account for variations in hardware and drivers. This has been a problem all the way back to XP. In the early days the percentage affected was more like 15 and most users learned about "roll back" procedures when their systems failed to restart after the patch. If you force even a small wait, the patched patch will have been released and you won't have problems with the update. If you wait too long, the patches will have drifted so much that they can't be applied and you will be forced to do a clean install of an updated version of the OS.

In other words, the up-dates always have bugs when first released.
It is wise to put off installing the up-date until these bugs have been fixed.
The last thing: Don't wait too long or the up-date may not be compatible with your now antiquated operating system.
To prevent the last thing from happening, Microsoft has limited the maximum pause in SETTINGS to 35 days.

Now that I have stated the above, please understand Roger, I am included in those you should not ask about computers and updates. I am a model train nut, not an Information Technology expert.

It was Woody Leonhard < https://www.askwoody.com/ > who suggested delaying Windows Updates. I never would have known otherwise.

It was Microsoft < https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4043948 > that told me how to pause updates. I am clueless without help from Microsoft.

Microsoft has the answer to your, "How to pause updates?", question.

I like how Microsoft includes little icons in their answer. I wonder if I could learn to do that?

Chuck had the answer to your, "Why would you want to?", question. Sometimes Chuck is OK, even if he did not answer your, how to, question.

Thanks Chuck & Wayne,

I have followed your directions.
Do I need to do this every time there is an update or does that take care of it?

Roger, this is opinion only, if you have not been having problems with the updates, you need do nothing.

Will we ever have a president not facing the word impeachment? This will go tit for tat over the next 100 years.

The same thoughts have occurred to me. I see this as the new norm for this country. It has been said many times that this country will collapse from within. :(

The whole mess is a shame, seeming like a rush-to-poor-judgement. As some of you may have deduced by now, I'm no fan of The Hairdo-in-Chief , and he seems like an amateur who is well out of his element, but I don't like seeing this happening to him , nor to us, the American democracy.

P.S. If this posting ticks-off any voice here, too much , just tell me, and I will remove it immediately, out of respect .
