Interesting cars that were probably not common. ???

I'm going to guess they were, likely, handmade by a group in a machine shop somewhere within the company.

There actually was(is?) a company that made the dump cars - Difco - Differential Dump Cars - came in single or double end versions for traction/trolley use and also as just trailers - also made these as regular RR dump cars, too.

I have to agree with Rufus...they were probably relatively common on both traction and
steam rail lines. The Pacific Electric had nine on their roster in Los Angeles, all built in
1928--two double-cab motors and 7 trailers. They were also on quite a few steam road's
m-o-w rosters, not to mention such users as quarries, etc.
Don't believe Divco is in business any more...they also manufactured those ubiquitous
milk and delivery trucks. There was a book published several years back about the
company and its products--they concentrated mostly on the automotive end of the business.

Neat little single truck sprinkler car; nice wood ends with drop sash center window - maybe possible to use the old Bowser drive in that tank??

Out in the streets or in early paved roads when track ran in cobblestones or brick....a weed might be preferable than a cloud of dust on a hot August day.

Funky looking piece of MoW equipment that looks like it might have an interesting history of being part of 2-3 other cars...that probably was not out and about on the passenger mains very often, if at all.

In my memory, I can still hear the particular sounds trolleys made as they ground and glided their way along those cobblestone streets in metropolitan Pittsburgh, especially when they'd be coming to a stop for me as a waiting passenger . Somehow, the trips aboard them were part of the enjoyment of a day's outing .
And I can still clearly recall, for some reason, the feel of the black plastic armrests in the newer trolleys when they made their first appearance during the 50's. Ssmmmooooothhhh.
