Rufus, after viewing the link about the "Blue Screen of Death" Wayne so graciously provided , I am going to take your advice and get myself to a Geek (Squad), likely tomorrow, weather permitting.

Thank you, Wayne, very much for that invaluable perspective and information. I like making decisions best when I have information, and that video also helped calm me down (I considered taking a sledge to the laptop and buying a new one, which I may still do) but first a visit to Geeks. The video identified the "wireless network adapter" as the culprit. So those folks and I will be having a chat soon, too.

Aside from Agamemnon, hundreds of years B.C., with a practice he utilized in his court, it was the railroads that started the practice of greeting important personages, as they disembarked from First Class and entered the station, with a red carpet rolled out for them on the pavement.
