Daisy, the next time these boys get together, you better grab the camcorder and meet up with them. Think of the critical aclaim, cinematic kudos, and obscene profit in producing the series "Hobos Gone Wild".

Wish I had been there. One of these days. Glad Hev's on our side. Jon, too.

Hev, I liked your tattoo. I've designed a little flash myself. Where did you get yours?

Here's a section from one of my novels. What do you think of this one?

It was dark when they separated. Only one streetlight pasted a rectangle of vaporous milk on a wall. He kissed her gently on the lips, crawled over to the sofa, and leaned his sweaty back against it. She propped her head on an elbow, watching him. He snagged the beer off the coffee table and drank.
“Warm,” he said. “You want one?”
She nodded.
When he got back, trying not to limp, she’d switched on a light, settled on the sofa, shaken out her hair and put her shirt back on, leaving it unbuttoned. He handed her a beer. And she started laughing. Fock—he’d forgotten. She continued to laugh, almost bubbling over.
“I was only eighteen,” he said, sitting beside her. “It seemed like a great idea at the time.”
“It’s incredible. I love it.”
She bent at the waist, the shirt spreading. She kissed the headlight, the bell, then up to the smokestack with its coil of burning coal, licked down to the cowcatcher just above his navel, kissed every freight car all the way to the caboose and the horizon, which bisected his nipples. “You really are funny, you know that?”
“Took forever too.”
“I want a tattoo.”
“Not sure steam would be right for you. Maybe a diesel?”

I sure am missing runnin' those trains around the layout with my little man. We've got some catching up to do when I get back. He's the best thing that's ever happened to me. Whenever we go the the train room, that's the first thing he starts playing with, that silly Lionel log "thing". I'll never take it off the layout. I hope he grows up with the fond memories some of you other fellas did, sharing time with dad and trains.

LMAO!

My only experience was seeing one of those tractors at a farm show. They would have a once/day tractor parade, and all kinds of vintage and restored machinery would go rolling by, but all internal-combustion. Then they had one steam-tractor, and you could hear this thing coming, all the clanking and steel wheels over dirt and gravel. Then when passing a knot of kids, the guy would yank the whistle cord and knock everybody on their *** with the unexpected noise.
Man, you look at that thing, and think about the maintenance, and the time involved getting the steam up and keeping the fire hot, you'd almost think it had to be easier using horses!
One thing that was fascinating was that, on the tractor I saw in operation, there was no direct gear-driven steering. The steering-gear drove a 'third-wheel' which had a chain wrapped around it, and the chain went to the respective ends of the front wheel axles, and pulled one or the other backward, to steer. Pretty primitive.
Probably had to be damn careful also, on any kind of slope, to keep water on the crown sheet.
Hev, keep us posted on how you're doing!

I believe it Penn. The little one in this photo (Pima County Fair, Tucson, AZ, 2001) had no problem pulling the weight sled used to test big farm tractors.

The Pentagon announced TODAY the formation of

a new 500-man elite fighting unit called the

These Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi,

Missouri, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, and West Virginia boys will be

dropped off into Iraq and have been given only the following facts
about
terrorists :

1. The season opened today.

2. There is no limit.

3. They taste just like chicken.

4. They don't like beer, pickup trucks, country music or Jesus.

Now that I've learned the proper supply channels and paperwork for requesting rivets for mess kits, I've come to feel a whole lot better about myself.

Hey Hev!!, Will noon on Friday be to late for a trip to Strasburg?
