Re: Doorstop Electrics
Bob Stevenson sent me some lost wax castings a while back. I have been very slow to create anything out of them, but you may see just a bit of progress in this shot. I have two Sunset Great Northern Y1s in green and orange (gorgeous) so that may account for the slowness, and also the PRR sides. I am still looking for the giant sheet of .010 brass I got at a surplus shop, so I can make a pair of sides for Bob with a separate belt rail.

And you know what? I dropped this thread a while back before posting my other electrics. What an oversight - seemed like there was some interest back then. I think I have the Parmele & Sturgis ready to go, and surely a couple others.

Hello all ...
Never can see too many door stop electrics ..
Here is a link to a Parmele & Sturges New Haven E3 running on outside 3rd rail
Pulling Walthers cars
https://youtu.be/TriVegMJiWsl
Here is a link to see a scratch built GG1 ...again running on outside 3rd rail...pulling 1 st generation Scale Craft cars circa 1934-6. GG1 would prefer a bit wider radi ...but humors me till the second ( slightly wider) loop is complete .

Re: Doorstop Electrics
It has been so long ago - a really nice guy in New England sent me a box of scraps, including three of these things in fragments. All I had to do in return is power a couple of Custom Brass locomotives and do a blue Conrail paint job.
As I recall, this one has giant 9000-series Pittmans, powering CLW gearboxes. It is so heavy it challenges my bridges.
I brought home the aluminum E44, and plan on adding some details. When I post the photo I will be asking for suggestions.

Re: Doorstop Electrics
Here is the not-so-beautiful aluminum E44. I have seen these done to almost perfection, but so far the motivation has escaped me. It does run, with six CLW gearboxes and two 8000-Pittmans.

The questions: Were these things black, or Brunswick Green? Any good ideas on spinners for the axles? I would prefer brass or even better steel with brass caps. I can probably machine the steel eyelets.
And decals still available? I could easily check P&D I suppose. But there has to be an E44 freak lurking somewhere with great knowledge.

DGLE! You want to talk withs Chris aka "PRR MAN" over on OGR. He just redid one (I think it was a House of Duddy version).

They were black when I saw them; late PRR, PC, CR. Note, Conrail did at least one in CR blue, btw.

Actually the snide comments made by the local railfan community was that they actually
were grey (due to the dust and dirt)....

Take care,

Re: Doorstop Electrics
Just did a little research on the Faiveley pantograph (and corrected my spelling elsewhere). I have lost-wax kits, and a vague idea of how they go together. Might be Wolfer/Duddy. Hints on assembly are of course welcome.
DGLE it is! Will have to get a new bottle and some new thinner.

Here is an "as arrived" photo a Penn-Erie E44 body that came my way almost a decade ago:

I have not been able to identify the manufacturer of the pantographs:

These are not the same as the pantograph on my Wolfer E44:

I have a memory of seeing kits for Faiveley pantographs in an LWS newsletter, so that is one possibility.
