That's the way I was for 20 years. Now I am retired so much it is hard to find stuff to do.
I must say that my eye problems have contributed greatly to this. :(

I hope none on MTJ develop similar problems. It can get boring.

Updated 11/04/2020:

Made a bit of progress today, despite having to teach:

  • Programmed Switch #36 for TMCC control on the test bench.
  • Revised the track plan to include the positions of insulated rail pins and wires and the locations of curves and Switch #36 relative to the Weirton Steel divider (12' to the east).
  • Positioned some of the above components on the benchwork in their approximate locations.
  • Connected power/ground feeder wire pairs to their respective Eastbound and Westbound buses.
  • Tested installed tracks with 18" K-Line PRR Spirit of St. Louis passenger cars (our 1:48 travelers deserve smooth rides!).

Updated 11/12/2020:

Worked on a lot of things today:

  • Switch #33 has been TMCC programmed and installed.
  • The straight track eastward from Switch #33 has been installed, along with its wiring (power / ground # 7.11).
  • An access pop-up near that switch has been identified on the plan. This will be behind the Blooming Mill and should be hidden from view; no cover will be required. It will be just large for me to fit. It has not yet been drawn on the layout.
  • Switch #32 has been TMCC programmed and placed on the layout. It is ready for installation.
  • Switch #31 has been TMCC programmed.
  • Switch #29 has been TMCC programmed.
  • Switch #30 has been TMCC programmed.
  • Cut holes in the backdrop to accommodate both legs of Switch #32. Test ran a hot metal (torpedo) car through the backdrop to make sure it fits. It’s a very close clearance. I might end up shaving a bit more off each side.

Geez Roger, I'm paddling as fast as I can.

At the moment, I must admit that I've lost (can't remember) the incantation for getting photos to display here from the iCloud.

When I can, I will post some. Enormous progress has been made, but I've a long way to go. :(

With a teaspoon is how I laid ballast. I did get it done and so will George.

Are you using a Mac or a PC? The only reason I ask is to help out with the sharing. On a Mac, the photo's have to go in the "Photo's" folder in with the Shared/Shared Albums

Image

If you are on a PC I will have to research the path/steps. (BTW, Windows XP, 7, or hopefully 10 as the previous two are unsupported).

Made it race against time.
Once I built a railroad, now it's done --
Brother, can you spare a dime?

I'm using Window 10. Don't worry about, Chuck. I will get this figured out. It's just an annoyance.

And I'm not using a teaspoon to ballast track.

It's a tablespoon! So there!!!

Updated 11/20/2020:
  • School has been impeding my progress big time this week - last week of lecture, team development projects due, grading, etc.
  • I have track down for about 1/3 of the Staging Area.
  • I am in the process of pulling bus wire for that power district (#8).
