But since you offered, I do have a GP7 that awaits redecoration. Maroon provided it (I may never catch up withhim) and suggested you as painter, for a two-tone T&P scheme. I sorta wanted purple and silver ACL, but I am not getting to it.

My A-N drive Kemtron Geep came in purple and silver...but lettered "Central Pacific". Go figure. Ain't now!

Indeed, quickly done as well, the last P5a scheme on either car body type is a lesson in true minimalism.

When you refer to the T&P "two tone scheme" is that the later blue and grey freight scheme?
or the more elaborate "Swamp-Holly Orange" as-delivered scheme? (and which is actually three colors and bonus- the MP hated )
I do like 'em both.

Also, the purple and silver ACL is already on my list for either an F or GP for the club so whichever one you want to go with I'm good.

I am going to attempt purple & silver. Plan is to mask for the yellow stripes, then shoot. Unit is already in baked-on yellow.

Painting is no longer easy for me, because the paint itself goes bad so quickly - either that or time is marching so fast that, by the time I get to shooting, any brand paint would be dead. But I have bottles of Testor's "Pla" that are a half century old and still good!

Just to let you know where this is going - I am running out of PRR steam (well, I have a T1, some B6s, and a couple of eight-coupled to go, but not sure where the photos are stored).

Do not wait to strike till the iron is hot; but make it hot by striking.

Image I got a handful more. This is an old Saginaw PRR H10. At least I believe it is and not a CLW. Still outside third rail. Don't think it's worth having it 2 railed.

Are you kidding? That is drop-dead gorgeous! You might check; a lot of outside third was insulated on one side, and back then the machinists were good enough that you cannot see it.

Bob, yeah, this one is uninsulated on the driver's. I was lucky though on a G5 and L1. Both were outside 3rd rail but did have insulated drivers.

This K4s, which represents one of the last ones built in 1928, was scratch built by Tom Tronzo back in the early 1960's. My dad acquired it from him soon after and enjoyed continued visits with him over the years. I inherited it when my dad passed away. This latest paint job was applied nearly 20 years ago. The only thing I can recall of the details of the build was Tom used Japanese drivers. Tom was known for his O Scale PRR H21 and GRa brass freight cars he built from scratch. Tom gave me one of each on one of our visits with him.

Tom was indeed a master. Glad you are bringing his work to light. Can we get a shot of the underside?

Bob, here is the underside of the K4s. Also included are samples of Tom's GRa and H25. Image

Outstanding. The above PRR models remind me of home in my much younger days.

I remember Tom's basement, filled with a bunch of locomotives. Several Lenoirs including the Q2 and S2. ScaleCraft, CLW, brass imports, etc. He showed me how he made the tapered ribs for the H25. A 2 piece steel mold where he would slip in a brass shim, do the pressing or pounding and out popped a finished rib waiting triming and soldering. I still am amazed at the old irons he used for soldering. I have trouble with resistance soldering!

I like your backdrop way better than mine. Keep them coming. This is the best thread going at the moment - uh, opinion.
