I buy one every month or so - usually experimental, electronic, or complex prog.

However, I've been enjoying something in car that I have not listened to for many years; perhaps a song for our times.

Well! Surprisingly to me I found that piece to be rather enjoyable. I don.t know that J would be able to tell you at this time.

Today I am having many eye problems mostly from Macular degeneration.
The above two lines took five minutes to type.

Hurray!

My eyes are just terribly dilated now being back from my yearly retina exam. Vision has otherwise totally stabilized w/o any changes post cataract surgeries now.

I listened to it and also pulled up the lyrics. What is it about the song that you like. The music, Lyrics. Combination of both. (perhaps a song for our times) :?:

For me the sound (music) is just mediocre. The words appear to be anti establishment or anti religion. Some times it can be difficult to interrupt the the intent of the lyrics. I have seen many articles and videos about past songs that were misinterpreted from what the artist intended.

Sometimes the lyrics don't make any since. maybe they weren't intended to. Going back to my younger years I never got caught up in the lyrics. I was only interested in the sound. But sometimes I do enjoy the words.
An example. Enya's May It Be.

All of it. Also a connection to my past in the Philadelphia area.

You find what you want to find whether it is there or not. I have heard and read interviews with Don Mclean about the meanings in American Pie and only heard countless different explanations - the only one that seemed honest was that it meant he did not have to work ever again.

Sometimes the lyrics don't make any since. maybe they weren't intended to. Going back to my younger years I never got caught up in the lyrics.

If I want lyrics I'll listen to Peter Hammill with or w/o Van Der Graaf....

Just trying to comprehend the lyric. Is there a message in them ? Calling the people Zombies. Zombies don't have a mind of their own. Brain dead. Are they saying disregard what's in the bible because it's not real. ??

All You Zombies
The Hooters
Holy Moses met the Pharaoh
Yeah, he tried to set him straight
Looked him in the eye,
"Let my people go!"
Holy Moses on the mountain
High above the golden calf
Went to get the Ten Commandments
Yeah, he's just gonna break 'em in half!
All you zombies hide your faces,
All you people in the street,
All you sittin' in high places,
The pieces gonna fall on you
No one ever spoke to Noah,
They all laughed at him instead
Workin' on his ark,
Workin' all by himself
Only Noah saw it comin',
Forty days and forty nights,
Took his sons and daughters with him,
Yeah, they were the Israelites!
All you zombies hide your faces,
All you people in the street,
All you sittin' in high places,
The rain's gonna fall on you
Holy Father, what's the matter?
Where have all your children gone?
Sittin' in the dark,
Livin' all by themselves,
You don't have to hide anymore!
All you zombies show your faces,
All you people in the street,
All you sittin' in high places,
The pieces gonna fall on you!
All you zombies show your faces,
(I see you out there!)
All you people in the street,
(Let's see you!)
All you sittin in high places,
It's all gonna fall on you!

Have hundreds of CD's from the 90's on back, but seldom listen to them. There's good music going forward, but I don't care for new music or their messages.

Pandora just makes it too easy to hear what I want. Either 50's and 60's music channels, like Roy Orbison, Doo Wop, Platters, 60's oldies, San Francisco or "New Age", like Liquid Mind, Aeoliah, Mars Laser, Deuter, 2002, Shastro & Nadama. This music you can work to, read to, or just chill out. We listen to the Mars Laser channel every morning while we drink coffee and discuss the days plans.

Any of the channels is really a blend of that specific genres and Pandora blends them well, so you only hear a rotation of any artists every hour or so. The New Age channel is really a blend of all the others, with the Mars Laser channel being the best and seems to play 99% winners.

I think you may have succeeded in getting the message 100% backwards. Zombies by virtue of totally disregarding the Bible and all the principles that it presents.

I was a Pandora listener a very long time ago...........and after a while grew bored with it. Playlists got worn out...moved to a platform called Live365 (now long gone) which had hundred of stations of more musical genres than I thought possible, but they all had a human's hand behind each one so the programming had "personality". I had 6-7 stations there that I rotated through and then if all went poof! I tracked down one of the associated stations, Progzilla, and have kept that one active on my computer (and Kindle wen traveling) as again multiple shows with human's behind the programming. Some I like quite a lot and some I can barely tolerate at times; then I just switch to YouTube and 1 of the hundreds of links on my computer. Yesterday while working I let hours of Steve Roach live performances play; 2 days before that I was listening to Buckethead all day. Two ends of 2 very different spectrum's of music. I try to keep an open mind and an open ear.

I am mostly interested in classical music. I don't like much opera. There is some of ALL types that I like. Not just classical. Older pop stuff is easier for me to understand. Often I don't really hear words, just sounds. I even like some country and rock. I don't think I like rap or hip-hop. I don't even know if hip-hop is still around. Of course it makes no difference to anyone what I like.

That is very possible that is why I am asking for an explanation. Maybe why I don't pay much attention to the lyrics. But in the case of this song the sound doesn't do much to entertain me. Music that I enjoy you might not like.

Different strokes for different folks. So the expression goes. But I do enjoy all the pictures that you post from the post cards.

Disregarding the message in the bible is what I took it to mean also.

Eric Bazilian told the Chicago Tribune in 1985 that he didn't know the meaning of the song despite having written it. "People ask us what it's about ... the weird thing is we didn't consciously put [the heavy stuff] there. Hyman later told Songfacts that the biblical images, including Moses and Noah, were not part of any agenda, though some radio stations refused to play it. "I love songs like that, you just listen and every time you hear it you kind of wonder what's going on."

Then I heard something about Moses in my head, and I started singing, `Holy Moses.`
''We just chased it down. We stopped what we were doing to go after this thing, and an hour later, the song was written, start to finish.

So in reality "All You Zombies" is a meaning less song. Got It....

The song has been covered by German singer Sandra for her eighth studio album The Art of Love, and released as a promo single. Another cover was published by the German band Santiano in 2013 (album Mit den Gezeiten). They used a German text and changed it into a song about Vikings going to Walhalla, which is the title of the song.
