They did look well built, the issue was your eye correctly recognized a problem. They lack the one or two small end corridor windows that were emblematic of the Southern's large fleet of modernized heavyweights, which intentionally emulated the PRR's lightweight coach plans also used by the Southern and variety of other south eastern carriers having through passenger trains originating in NY.

These modernized cars were iconic of the company's heavyweight fleet with some serving into the mid-seventies on the Piedmont, Skyland and Birmingham Special remnant, not to mention on all those steam excursions and on the Smokey Mountain Line to this day.

In this case the builder mostly just used the same old Walther's 9175 P-70FAR
sides or the 4853 LW coach sides, close but the coach windows aren't shaped or spaced correctly either. I saw them and thought about buying them for the downtown club, but passed.
