Wow! You hardly ever see anyone modelling locomotive power on shop trucks!
Rare, indeed...

Take care,

Rats!
Those drives were traction motor drives. Each was worth more than the listing price. Someone got a bargain after tossing the engine shell in the trash or putting it back on eBay for $0.99.

At first I thought it might be the infamous Shay/Heisler, but there was NO running gear on either side,

Somebody "married" two traction drives to the body shell......

You missed my joke...a reference to the fact that there was NO running gear on either side (note Dave's post). Since the auction had ended, I didn't really look too closely.

There was a joke? Ah, well..... I was more interested in the drives that I really could have used, although there was no way to tell if they were insulated or not. Still at that price, they could be resold individually........

Next to impossible to see everything on the auction! Then throw in a few clueless descriptions.....

Ah, but it's 2-rail! And WAY down you find "0".
Scale/Era: O Scale 2 Rail
Model Type: Steam Loco
Sold...somebody either got took or snagged some neat trolley trucks for $81.00 plus $20.97 shipping!
But it's "This item has been graded per TCA standards C-5: Good. "

Yup. Good large monitor when you click on and expand the photos shows them off nicely; neat powered trolley trucks at a steal.
So it goes..... With my luck they were not insulated and I'd have to sell them off for a nice profit,

Consider the source

Well I’ll be damned! You guys got better eyes than me! I just thought it was a pile of junk. What the hell is TCA rating doing describing stuff anyway. I see TrainZ always rates their stuff a minimum of 6, very good condition and then go on to say it’s paint Is scratched, "trim" pieces might and are missing and it could do with a "gentle washing"! Huh? I get a big kick of their descriptions of POS's as very good with a rating of..........6! Out of 10 how could that be very good?! Sounds like all the BS with posted car mileage!

9 out of 10 means "not perfect". Five out of ten means halfway to worthless. What does six mean?
Re: You will eventually see everything.......
Most of the steam locos they show do not have tenders in the photos but should.
Is this done by the company or seller? I most likely will not buy a loco without the appropriate tender.
If the cost was lower I might consider it.
