Dog kind of scared that bear......

Yes, Thanks, HONDO, that was in the News, and I saw it. There is a definite uptick in their appearances in a variety of communities, in New Jersey, even in Paramus along the very busy Rt.17.

And I suppose you heard about the coyote that stalked a woman, in Fairfield, as she was walking her two children, one in a baby-carriage, the kind you push, and her toddler boy was walking alongside. A neighbor saw her being stalked, from behind her and the children, called out to her, and when she turned 'round, the coyote was on her, biting her rear and legs, then putting its mouth right over the baby's whole head. Apparently, the resulting commotion chased it away, but I still do not know if the police, subsequently, ever caught/killed the right one, there are so many on the prowl, using the Passaic River, its tributaries and its stands of tree, as passageways to hunt in the neighborhoods. I knew they were fond of taking cats and small dogs, but I had no idea they were so bold as to attack children that were in the company of adults, and right along a suburban sidewalk, no less.

Thanks, again, for the information.

Murph, didn't you just relate a similar situation, in your neighborhood? As I recall, the coyote was rabid. This would account, for such an animal attacking humans.

Yes, June 15, p39 of this thread, but I didn't know if HONDO had read that posting, so I thought I'd mention an abridged edition of it here. I had not heard that the coyote that had attacked the mother and her two children had been caught specifically and declared rabid. How could they have been certain that the one a cop shot-dead later that day had been the baby-attacker, I wondered. There are enough out there that I am not sure authorities were sure it was the exact one. Well, I'll be out there in an hour doing my 2-3miler. Who knows what lurks.

When I walked thru my side-yard early yesterday, where new grass had been planted several weeks ago, I noticed deer prints in the soft soil, as well as large canine-type footprints among them, pressed a good way into the ground. I don't believe we have any loose dogs about, but my next-door neighbor and I had noticed, a few days ago, that the security light that goes on automatically outside my house had been lighting up for several days , now, at dusk and pre-dawn. Something has been passing thru and causing her dog to go nuts barking on that side of her house where I have my auto-light alerting us.

Yes I remember reading what you posted. :)

Did you see anything about this ?

Rabies alert issued for Disney World's Epcot area after infected cat scratches employees
https://www.usatoday.com/story/travel/n ... 704265001/

The Florida Department of Health in Orange County has issued a 60-day rabies warning at Walt Disney World Resort in response to reports a rabid cat had been found in the area.

The alert, announced Tuesday, covers the two-mile radius of the intersection of Interstate 4 and Epcot Center Drive, which includes Disney's Epcot Center theme park.

Disney World spokeswoman Erica Ettori told USA TODAY two cast members were scratched by the lab-confirmed rabid cat but did not contract the virus.

"We are relieved the two Cast Members received timely treatment and are back to work," Ettori said.

Hi up148, Fun to get your outreach.
You can safely assume you would never see me doing that. :D However, it's an interesting coincidence that you have posted that because I have been thinking about returning to my favorite spots along Brake Hill Road, just outside my fav spots of Homer and Cortland, NY, maybe tomorrow; maybe, next week.

It takes a unique jackazz to walk up to a bear, AND stick something in its face!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, you're right, so I am going to conclude that I will let the bears, Upstate NY, have their forest, and I will have my bucket-o-bolts to explore the wonders of their forest from inside my little sanctuary.

Weather permitting (it must be perfect), I may be returning here Monday.

And I have a feeling there is going to be an entirely different feeling to it for me, this time.
