Rubber bands slipped badly in Half-0, imagine the weight on 0 the engine has to pull.

I rebuild HiF drives often. Did 5 or 6 couple of years ago for one person.

I've known HO guys who insisted that the rubber band drive Athearns were incredibly good runners when they ran in sets, for example an all-powered A-B-B-A consist of F7s. Apparently the different units smoothed one another out.... or so the guys claimed.

Understood. The best drive belts are flexible, but not stretchy. IIRC, most Hi-F slip is at the drive shaft. The smooth, small diameter shaft, essential to the speed reduction, didn't provide enough friction surface. Also IIRC, the Suydam spring belt pulleys had a knurled surface, to grip the springs.

And clubs who used HiF diseasemals on the point of multiple unit lashups. Faster, so on the nose, no gear bind....add as many as your power source can handle!
