Well have a few for me boys...just found out I'm pulling a 48 hour shift at the Super Bowl for ABC to edit all night, work the game and then start cleaning up. I came in this AM @ 7 and probably will leave Monday morning around 2am. SUPRISE. Had we know about this as a company we would of had a tech here for the late shift as it were.

PS: Is it actually possible for a human to survive 48 hours living on stadium food? Chili dogs, nachos, and peanuts!!!!!

Well 2 things... I am salary. No OT. But all the ABC folks are lapping it up. I even heard someone talking about paying off a car they bought in the fall.

Secondly... my pass allows me in the ABC TV compound only. I'll be watching the game just like everyone else on TV.

Those Stillers better win.

For some reason artistic renderings of the S-1 make it very appealing.


But the actual model itself is lacking something that I just can't put my finger on.

Hell yes I am!!! In order to have the propper PRR line up(In my opinion)
I need a K4,M1,S1,S2,,,,and that Q that you have would be nice too,but I don't think I can swing it,
I've been so busy working on my house that I'm about 4 or 5 years behind on locomotive purcheses.
They'll be around though,and if not? Oh well!!!

Jon I agree something does kinda make the engine stand out in the photo. I can't really put my finger on it either.

Jon, is that the 3rd Rail model? Doesn't look like 3rd Rail. Have you seen theirs?

The above model looks too boxy, not graceful and sleek enough.

Here , maybe you can find what your not sure about. I'm thinking that some might have had the PRR with wings just above the headlight. Not sure though.

How about the fact that in the model, at least the way it is lit, the vertical seams of the individual panels are very prominent, and the regular vertical lines break up the horizontal sweep of the engines lines.

In the real thing, they are much less obvious and the engine has a pleasing streamlined effect.

These shrouded engines, like the GG 1 and this one, are also covered with sheet metal and the metal always has an organic and slight irregularity or waviness. The die cast models have a dense perfect inpenetrable hardness to the shells. This is hard to describe, but the engines just aren't as flat as the models depict them.

I agree, Will. The photo of the model appears to have been taken with a flash. which does'nt help its cause any better.

Tramp, I can't find any info on 3rd Rail ever producing the S-1, I'd love to see a shot of one and compare it to a diecast S-1.

UPDATE: I'm showing that Bob Keller of CTT did a review of the 3rd Rail PRR S-1 in November of 1999!!! Pixs, please!!!!

Remember that there was just one each of the Q1 ,S and S2. They were used,mostly, between Chicago and Crestline,Oh. The Q1 was used as far east as Conway. None lasted over ten years. I cant find a color photo of the S1 but Pennsy calendar drawings show Brunswick green, also on the Q and the S2.
