I thought that kit came with two cabs; the builder's option as to how many, if any, to install.
There were two different kits - different companies. I'm pretty sure that you could order it in all 3 configurations; single, double, or as just a trailer.

Differential was around from 1915 under that name until 1966 when Trinity Industries acquired them. The last cars were built around 2004.
Right. We already had this conversation here a few pages back the 1st time I posted up some photos of a Differential Dump car;

I have several trailer differential dump car model kits from Franklin Models and Ashland Car Works, and double-cab motor model kits from Franklin.
These kits were designated as such..the Ashland trailer kit was #ES-050, don't have any of the boxes for the others. However, one could easily
convert a motor cab unit into a trailer by removing the cabs from the build and scratch-building a dash on the end of the car frame (been there,
done that, where's my Tee shirt??). I also assume the opposite could be done by adding scratch-built cab(s) to a trailer kit. The hardest part of
completing the motor cars is to find motorized trucks that fit completely underneath the car and don't look "too clunky".
I did not pursue any single-cab motor kits, as the railway I model did not have any--only double cab motors (2) and trailers (7).
Take care,
Wolfgang

Franklin Models and Ashland Car Works,
Yup! Those were the 2.
The hardest part....motorized trucks that fit completely underneath the car and don't look "too clunky".
Still a problem for a lot of the cars I build - just no room and really stuck with Magic Carpet drives..........

Rex,
I don't know why it took me so long to ask but why are you deplorable?
Your picture is not too bad. You have, usually, more interesting posts than mine.
So why?????

Name me an alternate fully under the floor drive that is suitable for a trolley? The Q-car drives tend to have a can motor that rides a bit above the truck except in some specific cases where the sideframes wheelbase permits that motor to be fully within the truck.

Aaaaahhh, California ...graduated Ohio college undergraduate in 1967. Loaded my books and 3-piece suits into my brand new Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme, and headed down N.Fountain Ave to the intersection at the interstate. At the light, wanted to head west to California , or east to NYC :
Points for going west:
A. It was CA after-all !!!
B. Surfing was all the rage.
C. Wanted to become a rock-n-roll star.
Points for going east:
A. It was NYC after-all !!!
B. Hated the beach with its heat (never had a sunTAN, only sunPINKS/burns); had no idea how to surf .
C. Couldn't sing, nor could I play a single instrument .
The two-minute light was up. Turned left, toward saying Goodbye to family in Pittsburgh and continuing on to NYC .
One of those BIG personal decisions that made all the difference.
life is good. Life is very , very good. Everyday . And I never missed the beach.

Murph,
You would have been a different person if you had turned the other way.
Probably no trains.Probably not even teaching. It is good you turned left.

I have never had decisions of that magnitude be reduced to that level of simplicity. I had choices of Medical School, Computer Science, or Grad School in Chemistry. As much as the middle choice was fun, it was also boring at the same time; the 1st was top of the list, but having worked in a hospital for a few years, I had learned that this route would turn me into someone that I did not want to become, someone that I would find repugnant were I able to step back and see myself later; Chemistry was fun and it fit me very naturally.
I've stayed on the PA/NJ/DE/MD/VA area for nearly 55 years. CA holds no interest for me. FL, SC and GA, however, are still another distant home that I may yet migrate to.........if I ever leave Freedonia or Omtose Phellack. Seems doubtful now...
