I don't remember the armrests being so shiny. Have those been buffed-up?

Once it was a happy people-transporting trolley; then, it became a stuff-transporting trolley, maimed and cut-up. What was next - out to the scrap heap? Sad. (I loved trolleys, back-in-the-days of kidhood in Pittsburgh.)

No, no, no! Never carried people or was a conversion!
Those were a commercial product - Difco Differential Dump car. They came as single or double ended and as just trailers. Hydraulic side dump cars

I thought that kit came with two cabs; the builder's option as to how many, if any, to install.

Differential was around from 1915 under that name until 1966 when Trinity Industries acquired them. The last cars were built around 2004.
