I don't remember such signage, but I do vividly recall the sound trolleys made as their wheels ground their heavy way along the rails set in our brick streets among the many communities along the rivers around Pittsburgh .
Trolleys had "something" that their replacements, buses, do not have. IMO.

I don't know what it is about trolleys, but they have always brought a smile to my face, whether it was when I was twelve and taking one from our suburb to Oakland, PA where the Carnegie Museum was (loaded with dinosaurs!) or at my age now, seeing such pictures and remembering them.

I remember on the street cars in my home town area that there was a trolley on each end but only the one on the rear was used. When the end of the line was reached, the motorman raised the trolley on what had been the front, took the controls and went to the other end and lowered that trolley, inserted his controls and went the other way.
How did a single end trolley go in reverse or did it at all? I assume a reverse loop or a turntable was needed. In our area I don't recall any reverse loops. Neither do I recall single ended cars.
The street cars were a lot more fun to ride than the new buses were even though the buses were warmer and not as drafty in cold weather.
Buses smelled funny but the street cars smelled like 'lectric trains.

Usually a loop that was not obvious to riders - after the last stop loop around the car barn, or the entire route was a big loop.
But then if there were no single end cars, then there was no need for a loop

Just what it looks like -- a Tank Trolley Motor.
Usually these are for water; sprinkler cars for dust and herbicide/weed control. This one appears to be more likely for fuel oil.
Could be a fun build!
