I once built a module that depicted the serial construction of boxcars on a siding.....maybe 18" x 30"?....along with another track for delivery of supplies and support materials

I suspect it is on the floor under my layout........somewhere.

Man-o-man, that would be a real treat seeing your execution of that vignette. It would, no doubt, :D be a feast for the eyes and imagination....

Looking back on it I think it was rather crude and maybe one of my earlier efforts inspired from recently reading White's book on the American Freight Car. I did incorporate a 3-way stub switch in it just to see how that might be done.

I suspect it will see the light of day eventually as stuff gets cleared and disposed of.....

Well, when and if you decide to go treasure-hunting, your early work would be just as interesting to see as later work, since we would all be learning from your efforts as well as enjoying understanding how your viewpoints and interpretations have changed. It's all play after all, isn't it.

We need to play. All work and no play....creates an imbalance. (I got this from Joel Osteen, last Sunday) Even the name "Issac" in the Bible, apparently means "happy" or happiness. In fact, I have long thought and conducted myself accordingly, that when we are happy or even laughing we learn the best and most.

Conversing on MTJ, and sharing ideas and modeling, and observations, be it about trains or about various aspects of life, is a form of play, IMHO. Good for us!

P.S. A bit of acreage I have altered many times, just for something different to express, and because it was time to do something new.

The real estate, seen from the same vantage point, as it was previous to the changes seen above...

I just gotta play...

Let's have a drink at the bar in the Overlook Hotel and talk about that a bit, eh?

Not really off subject but I quite often mention in posts to have FUN.
The person doing the fun-making stuff can determine how that FUN is to be had.
I don;t suppose everything one does can be fun but it can certainly make life more livable.

Oh, Murph. I don't do kind.

It is interesting that the 2-rail purists have not criticized your work. Bob? Bob?

Well, frankly, I'm not thin-skinned about my layout. Simply, I enjoy conversations because they sometimes afford me new ideas and perspectives that had not occurred to me. And I like the social aspect.

For example, quite some time ago, a popular denizen of MTJ , known as Frank53, made a point about some of my scenes on my layout. He pointed out that I did not use vehicles true to the specific circa it had appeared I had been modeling , especially considering that I run a lot of steam.

I felt, he was right . I had not thought of that aspect of vehicular fidelity , but had explained on this forum that I preferred to simply indulge myself with happenstance purchases of vehicles and would continue to do so. However, I did start "cleaning up" the layout in that regard, and ended up giving children-visitors many of the vehicles well out of general perceived circa of the layout.

Also, a good result of listening to Frank53 was that when I did work for my Layout Refinements displays @ York, PA TCA meets, I took care about vehicle-fidelity or simply omitted them entirely from many of the vignettes I had created, all of which sold, and quickly. So, listening to Frank turned out to be profitable for me, as well as good sense.

Keeping an open mind is good, so I always welcome comments. When they are positive, I confess I like it a lot, too. :D

Do you really feel some need to instigate something of this nature?
