It looks like the car is at the end of the line and is set up to return. Nice picture.

Evil cannot create anything new, it can only corrupt and ruin what good forces have created or made.

Hershey Transit Co MoW car 28......which has considerable appeal to me and that little tank trailer is pretty intriguing as well!

This appears to be a lead into a yard area to me because of what looks like many overhead wires branching out from one. ???
Which brings up the question to me of how did the trolley pole know which one to follow?

That's what the wheel and trolley frog are for Roger, the wheel is grooved to allow the cable to ride in.

I understand but how does the trolley understand?

I've always assumed (there's that word) that the pole is bias to center and therefore follows the trolley around the corner. That is a major SWAG on my part as the only time I ever observed Catenary wires at close range in 1 to 1 the cars were using a pantograph.

On all the trolleys I have been around and operated the trolley poles are free to swivel 360*. The overhead wires separate at the frog which is located further down the track closer to the rail frog. By the time the car is in the diverging route the pole swivel base has moved to the side and is trying to drag the pole to the side, turning the axis of the trolley wheel to the side. The trolley wheel, entering the inverted "U" shaped wire frog follows the side of the frog and out the diverging route onto the corresponding overhead wire. The wire frog location is critical for the proper operation to occur.

The poles do not always stay on the wire.
I My wife and I had fun riding the street cars in Toronto when we second honeymooned at Niagara Falls. There were a few turns where a transit worker was stationed whose only job was to walk behind the street car and rewire the pole should it dewire. In Chinatown it dewired turning from Queen Street onto Spadina Ave every time.

Transit worker putting pole back on the wire after it dewired at Queen's Quay Ferry dock.

Nice photo of the older Toronto PCC streetcar -- was that a fantrip museum run car?? That is a common event when ie: an overhead wire turnout frog goes bad or breaks, is damaged, and a surface employee must re-direct, or route, the trolley pole (via the pull down and back up ropes) back up to the proper trolley wire depending what straight or left, right, track of the route divergence the trolley must take. See that a number of times in the decades ago days of PCC's in Philly, PA.

I can't find my photo of the event in Chinatown. Image used above "borrowed" from this site: http://www.ttc-page.hostei.com/streetca ... 0-4199.htm
