after a self-flagellation session to remind myself to not needlessly repeat pictures
when quoting others in a thread. I promise to curb that tendency in the future.

Like the granite ware coffee pot - nice effect. Have to remember to try that detail!

That stove needs a boy and a can of stove black.......and then some polish on the chrome trim. Had a stove not all that far off from that out in my parent's garage - I remember buying it at a farm auction in the early 70's, taking it apart, and re-assembling it to install it - adventure cutting a hole through the wall for the chimney..... We used it all the time to heat the room.....even though it really needed a new set of grates.

Had one of those years ago, but it didn't bloom and it didn't last.

I still have a "handful" of others growing here.....that will come in with 1st frost - Winter is Coming.

It might be kinda hard to pick up a big Ferocactus wislizeni and move it in and out when seasons change, the one in the flower picture probably weighs 500 lbs. If you did manage to move it, it might not bloom, they are sensitive to light conditions and become acclimated to one location only.

Mine was never that size, and I suspect never mature enough to bloom. I have managed to get some of the other species of cactus on my deck to bloom in the past, but I guess I've resigned to accept them as they are now - a fraction of the diversity and numbers that I one had...

Still have one (2?) that's well over 35 years old now and the big brasiliensis is about 32 years old.....
