No, Healey, bakeries are to be avoided (my term for it) due, I imagine, to the butter and egg ingredients.

That open car did not stand up to the right-of-way argument very well.

I didn't know trolleys had wrecks. In Pittsburgh, they ruled the road - nobody would have dared get in their way. There were parked cars, however, that made the mistake of parking too far left of the curb on their right and paid for it with scraped sides. As I further recall from the 50's, when pedestrians crossed a street possessed of trolley tracks , we feared the trolleys more than the cars because of the legend that they could cut your feet or legs off.

Trolley wreck near Pen-Mar, 1920:
The note on the back of the photo says H&F, but it might instead be the CG&W which had a connection with the H&F travelling to Pen-Mar. As far as I know the H&F didn't reach Pen-Mar.
Healey
Yes, CG&W - I've posted a few pics from this wreck but I don't think this specific angle was one of them - thanks!!!!
The H&F interchange with the CG&W was in Shady Grove (pic back several pages - interchange was at right angles - T-bone. H&F was standard gauge while the CG&W was PA Broad gauge - you had to get out of one trolley and walk over to the other platform.

Well, they could.....if you put your foot (or leg) in the way of a steel flanged wheel.... Now how you might accomplish that w/o help or a certain degree of deliberateness is open to speculation.

Well, people must have managed it because some older trolleys had those "people-catchers"
on the front of them.
I can picture such an accident with ice or snow on a brick roadway and a person rushing in front of the trolley to catch it. Slip. Fall. Slide. Slice.

More than likely those were really there to protect a valuable piece of equipment from damage by a member of the irresponsible public........who in this day would be not paying attention, looking downwards as they walked in front of the trolley, staring at their phone that is probably smarted than they are....

I can picture you in front of a hot stove, but I can't see the stove, Mr. Taft!

That diet you are imposed on is probably good for you all things considered, but I'm still going to be enjoying my peanut butter iced cinnamon rolls and hot sweet margarita mix tea.......

Now, that is uncalled for viciousness - you actually have me drooling and nostalgic. Saucyboots!
Yet, I must be strong to improve and stay lucid and on the upside of the dirt, huh. 70 years of self-indulgence headfirst into boxcar loads (reefers, o' course) of ice cream is apparently enough.
Now, on to the dubious joys of skinless chicken and turkey!

Murph,
Now I know that I will be open for similar comments from Rufus but his above post to you is just mean.
I know what it is like. I really like nuts [the kind you eat] but the doctors tell that I can eat all the nuts
I like if I want to die. So I know what it's like.
Oh,oh. I just gave him all the ammo he will need.
I admit defeat. I surrender.

Rufus, known to some as "Rufybabes," doesn't have a mean bone in his body; he's jus ' a playful li'l bugger that enjoys a good romp. (I know you're being ironic, not literal, so I know you know that .)

Mean? Mean would be me showing up on Murph's front porch with the cinnamon rolls and a bucket of ice cream in hand.....and handing him a spoon!
We have nothing but fun here!
Nuts to nuts - diverticulosis keeps me from those..........
Oh, there are so, so many ways to make both far more interesting and palatable than you might think!!!!
For example, we had skinless chicken last night....marinated in lime juice for a day with powdered ginger cooked up in olive oil with some nice veg in the same pan. Could just as easily grilled the chicken and will go back to that when the weather permits. BTW, used to be a household fav, skinless boneless turkey pounded thin and even off the grill after a day or 2 marinade - pick what you like to use. I have a nice molasses bacon seasoning and a smoked apple wood that I am using this year, although the sweet mesquite has been popular round this household.

Rufus,
I have the same reason for not eating nuts and several other things I like but my guts don't.
