It's asleep and the boiler is dreaming of running on super elevated tracks. Actually, it looks like the photographer forgot to make sure something wasn't hung up between the boiler and chassis. The boiler is resting on something that it shouldn't be resting on. Easy to do on some articulated models.

It might be the best representation of this loco in model form but it isn't sitting straight.

It looks like a Bultmann H6. I think Butch is correct in that the front driver assembly is hung up on something in the photo. A friend brought the brother H4 version of this loco to run on my layout a few years ago and it was an awesome piece. It may be the best model of a C&O H6 ever made in 0 scale and in the top tier of 0 scale models in general. I wish all of my models were in this league.

Going back to things of beauty, the classification lights on top of the boiler look straight. The front truck is setting normally, in line with the rest of the wheels. The handrail along the boiler appears to take a dip as it crosses the smokebox to the front end. I think the front end section needs a little rotating counter wampus to bring it into proper alignment.

There is usually a hook under the boiler that slips into a loop in the front driver assembly. It looks like it didn't get matched up properly which would cause the boiler to shift as it appears in the photo.

Wayne, your next to the bottom blue line is nearly horizontal, indicating it is near the center line of the camera lens. The vanishing point is off screen to the left so your blue lines should converge at that point, but they seem to be more parallel than I would expect. Your bottom red line should be parallel with the next to the bottom blue line if the boiler front was not tilted.

Looking at the fireman's side front handrail, as it points to the smokebox access door, it appears to cross the image of a black rectangular box, maybe a lubricator?, that appears to be setting on the engineer's side walkway section over the front cylinder. This could account for the twist of the boiler. But, going back to the cab side it appears to be in general alignment with the tender coal bunker, not showing the same degree of angular misalignment as the front end. Very interesting picture!

I think you are onto something about the alignment of the cab and tender. They do not align. A slight misalignment in the back of the image equals a larger misalignment in the front of the image. I simply aligned the cab and tender more closely and the whole front swung down in the image I posted below. Not perfect but was done rather quickly.

I think the front engine is pointed slightly to the fireman's side in the original photo as well which throws things off a bit.

My vote is with Butch. Notice the amount of daylight that can be seen at the front of the boiler looking from side to side. The boiler is hung up on something that is keeping it from being level (or close to level).

Actually, we've already been around and round over that photo quite a while back over on the 2 rail side - one of Erik's....

Got rather testy and heated as I recall since Erik is incapable of taking an imperfect photo and it is sitting on an unlevel surface and that makes look cockeyed.
