And cut off that second brake hose hanging down from the coupler and use some manganese phosphate on that coupler spring?

Could do that....used to use Monarch couplers and build in the cut levers.........

Used to also blacken those springs, but they get real hard to locate then when they pop out,

Was sort of hoping that I might run across some more "z" shape stock in Indy, but no such luck.

I'll do that and/or contact you directly.

I suspect in April that I will be thinning the herd.....and by then I shall have built and/or restored at least another 7-10 cars....unless the Gov't closes and/or we get serious amounts of snow, whereupon I'll get more built.

Damn but that's gorgeous Rufus! I'm seriously thinking about taking a whole new direction in modelling thanks to the inspiration your craftsmanship has given me.

I have a couple of tinplate coaches Friscosteam gave me that need to be completely overhauled, they're window less and in primer and my wife continually makes disparaging remarks about how much she hates plastic railroad cars and how much more realistic metal is, even lithographed tinplate like Marx she prefers to my Lionel boxcars.

So I'm thinking of attempting a simple 2 axle freight wagon like the old British stuff Hornby made. I've been saving my big tins for something like this. If the experiment proves worth the effort I might then attempt to make a couple of bogie vehicles.

However it would also be neat to use wood like your example, it certainly has the look spot on. I've got some nice 3 foot by 4 inch 1/16" boxwood sheets that keep saying "turn us into a Gresley teak carriage, please? Wouldn't we look nice under a coat of varnish, eh?"

The trouble with using steel is that it's a bugger to get crisp bends without a bending brake and a press would be very helpful too,so I'd have to build myself a set of tools before I could even make a start, not that I'd mind but it just adds to the project list and makes the final result less likely to occur mainly thanks to the prevarication virus!

Anyway, in conclusion, let me repeat.You really do a lovely job of model building, so much so that your product cries out "Buy me!" its that mouth wateringly attractive.

My #1 medium is wood and that suits me well as the era that my primary interests reside tends to be wood cars.....

I off to the next car already - it was in the next box in the queue but it's oddly enough ( ) not a MoW car but something that I had started and then tossed everything into a box for some odd reason - no memory of the why or when on this one, but it's coming along nicely....
