I like tank cars and doorstops both, but I couldn't even convince myself to bid the $40 opening price.

I'll say. That is a $20 model, and of interest only to 17/64 modelers. Opinion.

Left is Mi-Loco, right is Mini-Scale. Mini Scale is a heavy lead alloy tank, the other is cast aluminum. Otherwise they are identical.

Bob, I would also say that somebody that likes doorstops and is not particularly concerned with 17/64 vs 1/4 might also enjoy owning such a tank car (I fit this description so I can say this with certainty). The tank car might also be of interest to collectors of vintage models. There are not many out there but enough to occasionally pit two against each other in a bidding war for a rare model (and this tank is nothing if not rare).

All bets are off and price limits evaporate with you fold in the collector mentality an item being sold at auction.

Might only be a $20 item to model RR'er, but to a pair of competing collectors, it's something else entirely.
