Actually, it's been something different. We used to layer-up under blankets and quilts, but the redhead wanted to try an electric blanket.

Ever since, I have never slept so deeply and soundly, which was unexpected, but a side-effect has been a consistent streak of some of the most long and rambling and vivid dreams I can ever remember. That part about the little robotic people walking purposefully around the layout town was only the smallest part of a dream that started with me driving toward Jon's house. Often, these dreams are an offshoot of something that has happened in my waking hours.

Anybody else have an electric blanket that has experienced anything similar? Is there some physiological reason for this? Maybe the more involved dreams naturally come with better sleep patterns.

Yea or nay, I'm enjoying both aspects immensely.

I have seen that cowbell thing so many times that I can't not watch it and I'm afraid I'm sarting to like it but don't know why.

Electric blankets produce a rather strong electric field, like a big antenna. Electrical fields reduce melatonin production. Melatonin is a hormone produced in the brain that plays a role in sleep regulation, mood, and ovarian cycles.

I can't verify any of the health information above, but I do know the electric field produced by an electric blanket is much stronger than the field under a high voltage power line (because of how close it is to the body.)

Maybe melatonin reduction allows more dreaming.

I don't need the internet to tell me sleeping whilst toasty-warm gives me much more vivid and memorable dreams. Might be the same with you.

Is age playing into this? It used to be dreams were worthwhile subjects, a moonlit beach, tropical breezes, and a dusky maiden with two of the biggest ...er...trout.

I really enjoyed these photos. They were taken a year before I began riding freights. This was my era in a way. Very wonderful to see yet also very sad because the era has long passed us by.
