Oh, it'll do, that's for sure 'cause it's the thought that counts. And besides, a buzz is a buzz. That's the nice thing about such drinks - they take you up quickly, you enjoy the flight for apporx. an hour, then you descend w/out any jet-lag 8) Of course, if you have a Jack Daniels 'n Coke, I'll not say no.

For some reason, you, I'd feel safe drinking anything with, even something new to me, such as "corn squeezins." I'll be watchin' down the road for ya', Big Jon. Thanx for the good wishes. It's not often I get offered a drink by a gentleman so well equipped for home defense. :D

I'm sorry you missed it too Daisy. Those were some wonderful free-wheelin' days - top of the world. But I had to give the car back once I went off to college. Mother knew it would have stunted my growth, for sure.

You'd have been most welcome to come for some of those rides; that's certain. Thank you for the birthday wishes, young lady.

I figured you'd say something like that, and I imagined more of our beer gourmands here would rain down scorn upon me for such heresy.

I tried warm beer/ale-something-or-other when I taught in England, but could never acquire a taste for it. I guess ice cold beer (but not w/ ice in the beer of course!) was a little something I picked up from the other workers in the steel mills. There was nothing like a cold one to cut through the dust and crud after a day working under the soaking pits in National Tube US Steel works in the soot filled air of ol' McKeesport, PA.

I quite agree..........in my distant youth a very, very cold bottle of Miller or Rolling Rock was deeply appreciated after a very long hot day laying sod up in northern NJ.......

But, now given access to a near infinite array of import and micro-brewery beer that I can not see through, I have acquired a taste for just that....

You'll have to challenge yourself to a good Scottish Black Ale --> "Toasty! Chocolately! Viscous!" Wait, viscous? This is something good in my berverage of choice??? When I read that on the label I confess that that last descriptor gave me serious pause......transient fears of haggis in a bottle.....

Happy Birthday, again!

My gosh, Rufus, I enjoy our quirky little discussions that occur from time to time. You must be the life-of-the-party wherever you go. Were you the most popular kid in school? (Take that as rhetorical.) I'd love to see a photo of you as a boy. I can almost imagine it, given your avatar image! :D
Be well and happy.Thanx for the good wishes.

Hey Andre, Does the appearance of that tin cup usher me into the Cult of the Tin Cup brigade that has its headquarters on MTJ? I take it as a special moment  just to be shown one of the brotherhood's vessels! :wink:Have a drink on me, too.
Thanks for your good wishes.

Murph, seeing as it's Friday and your Birthday shot went over so well I've snuck the last of my "stash" over to Gomer's for all to partake! She's seasoned with pure cane sugar and pears. Hev n' Sarge might notice a couple of familiar items on the table as well.

Big Jon, Every bit of the photo is a welcome wonder. I never saw a NYC glass before; the bell-jar is excellent (I love 'em; in fact, we keep all our cereals in a half dozen larger such jars (1/2 gal ?), so I'm using them every day in the morning. The box car (very nicely weathered = subtle) is PRR, so that makes its appearance happily nostalgic for me.

All that means Thanks for the treat! And the birthday good wishes! I'm sure the drink was good for me.

Jon:

...and who says still-life can't be creative.

I seem to recognize a thing or two; your weathering looks almost the same style as mine!
