I love this Coleridge poem for tonight. Such a night.

You mould my Hopes, you fashion me within ;
And to the leading Love-throb in the Heart
Thro' all my Being, thro' my pulses beat ;
You lie in all my many Thoughts, like Light,
Like the fair light of Dawn, or summer Eve
On rippling Stream, or cloud-reflecting Lake.

Ok so I jumped the gun on night there at 2:30. But surely it's night now.

Thanks, Daisy. A good poem for this Pennsylvania night too, where I stood toward the west in a t-shirt and bare feet, inhaled this organic Spring evening, and watched the earth turn and the sun descend in a wash of pure gold.

Here's another one that sticks in my head tonight:

Seen a man standin' over a dead dog, lyin' by the highway in a ditch,
he's lookin' down kinda puzzled, pokin' that dog with a stick,
got his car door flung open, he's standin' out on highway 31,
like if he stood there long enough, that dog'd get up and run.
Struck me kinda funny, seem kinda funny, sir, to me,
still at the end of every hard earned day people find some reason to believe.

Now Mary Lou loved Johnny with a love mean and true.
She said "Baby I'll work for you every day and bring my money home to you",
One day he up and left her and ever since that,
she waits down at the end of that dirt road for young Johnny to come back.
Struck me kinda funny, seemed kind of funny sir to me,
how at the end of every hard earned day people find some reason to believe.

Take a baby to the river, Kyle William they called him.
Wash the baby in the water, take away little Kyle's sin,
in a whitewash shotgun shack an old man passes away, take his body to the graveyard and over him they pray.
Lord won't you tell us, tell us what does it mean,
still at the end of every hard earned day people find some reason to believe.

Congregation gathers down by the riverside.
Preacher stands with his Bible, groom stands waitin' for his bride,
Congregation's gone, and the sun sets behind a weepin' willow tree,
groom stands alone and watches the river rush on, so effortlessly.
And he's wonderin' where can his baby be,
still at the end of every hard earned day people find some reason to believe.

Thanks, Petey. I can't think of anything original, but, along those lines...

A Reason To Believe
(Rod Stewart)

If I listened long enough to you,
I'd find a way to believe that it's all true.
Knowing that you lied, straight-faced, while I cried,
Still I'd look to find a reason to believe.
Someone like you makes it hard to live without somebody else.
Someone like you makes it easy to give, never think of myself.

If I gave you time to change my mind,
I'd find a way to leave the past behind.
Knowing that you lied, straight-faced, while I cried,
Still I'd look to find a reason to believe.
Someone like you makes it hard to live without somebody else.
Someone like you makes it easy to give, never think of myself.

Someone like you makes it hard to think about somebody else....
If I listened long enough to you,
I'd find a way to believe that it's all true.
I'd find a reason, a reason to believe. (oh no)
And though I want you, you're just not what I need......

Someone like you makes it hard to live without somebody else.
Someone like you makes it easy to give, never think of myself.
Someone like you makes it hard to live without somebody else.
Someone like you, like you......
I'd find a reason to believe.......

I would find a reason to believe.

I'm gonna have another beer...

Sorry. I neglected to credit Bruce Springsteen, off his "Nebraska" album.
San, that's a old Tim Hardin song, re-done by Stewart. I still have my 33, but alas, no turntable. (The original was better, as they usually are).

Now that really cracked me up.

I didn't mean to use the sling shot on Tramp, if that's what you thought, my goodness. Didn't you read my haiku just before your post?

Cripes, it's hard to get a decent meal around the campfire these days. Let alone get your poem read.

Squirrel! Just hoping for some squirrel. How are you these days anyway, Dennis? Things going okay?

Jon
Those mustangs just run and run.
Ask your brother to email me the specs on that pony.
I will be posting some pics of my 89 restoration.
Its got all the go fast goodies on it:
SVO gt40 heads, block, and intake
e303 cam, level 10 tranny and 3.73 gears.
It cracks 13's consistently. I can handle engine and drivetrain but I am at the mercy of the body guys :(

My wife won't drive it anymore, last time she hit the passing gear she smoked the tires on the downshift.. :)

I think there's been a lockdown at the joint over in Bolduc and Tramp can't get out to the license plate room where they keep the PC.
