You may have missed some of the things Murph has revealed about himself Roy.
Do you know how deeply religious Murph is? How he continues to serve God in his Parish to this day? HIs religion does not condone divorce.
Here is the reason why someone who serves God would not divorce:
16 For the Lord, the God of Israel, saith that he hateth putting away: for one covereth violence with his garment, saith the Lord of hosts: therefore take heed to your spirit, that ye deal not treacherously.
--Malachi 2:16 King James Version (1611)
Sometimes understanding old English escapes me. Here it is in modern English:
16 For I hate divorce, says the Lord, the God of Israel, and covering one’s garment with violence, says the Lord of hosts. So take heed to yourselves and do not be faithless.
--Malachi 2:16 New Revised Standard Version Catholic Edition (1989)
You may have missed how much Murph loves his wife. He expressed that love in some very old posts.
The battle between Murph and the deer plus his fear of predatory animals has been somewhat exaggerated by our teasing Murph about it. Even I feel fear when I stand my ground in front of a vicious dog or meet a black bear in the Tucson mountains.
My wife seemed to have no fear of anything. One day she found a huge
Hadrurus arizonensis on one of the VHS movies we used to watch.

She picked it up by the tail and asked, "Do you want this, it is a big one?" I held my hand out. When she placed it in my hand it instantly started sting, sting, stinging me before I could grab its stinger. My wife taught me a lot while she was alive, like how much a scorpion sting hurts. Would you have suggested divorce? I loved my wife even more for her fearless attitude and ability to handle the most poisonous dwellers of the desert. (My wife kept a pet Mojave Rattle Snake in the house.)
We all think differently Roy. You see Mrs. Murph's love for the house as disrespecting Murph's fear of animals. I doubt that such a thought ever crossed Murph's mind.
