City Lines of WV Trolley at the Clarksburg Terminal.....work flat motor with a load of ties....something I really should buckle down and built a model of soon.

In addition to the cool car(s), I like how the trolley-line is depressed below the railroad track level, the border of heavy, thick wooden beams marking the border between the two lines, and the presence of wild foliage among all of it, not to mention the overhead metal viaduct; plus, all the utility poles poking up in varying directions (as kids,we used to call them "telegraph poles." Might have been a Pittsburgh thang.)

Yes. Lots of good details in this photo. The definition of the separation of RR vs. trolley right of way is something interesting to incorporate into a scene.

Always like the "shack on a flat" work motors but for reasons unknown I have yet to just sit down and build any. That one looks to be offset at the far end of the car. Should not pose a big challenge to model....

Work-cars like that, even on contemporary lines in subways in NYC, seem to have little housings - or whole cars - as part of the equipment. I guess one has to have some place for the workers to sit and be housed/protected; we can't just have them out there in the wind being open to chance.

Those poles were telegraph poles in my area also, about 65 miles southwest.

When I was a kid out west, some of the older folks would intermittently call them telegraph poles. Telegraph pole and telephone pole seemed to be interchangeable terminology above a certain age. Just one small sign of how we evolve over time with our technology, I guess.

Oh yes, I recall that, too, and had thought of it as I typed that remark but decided against including it. We did use both terms, way back then, in the Monongahela valley.

And considering that we certainly do "evolve over time with our technology," I have found myself using "utility pole" instead of either of those terms, having concluded that some younger folks might find those terms dated and misnomers.

I heard a legend many years ago that on Manhattan there came a time when there were so many wires strung up and down and across the streets that they blocked-out the daylight considerably; as a result, all the utility wires were buried under the streets, as they remain to this day.
