Icken Southern Pacfic Mountain and Mikado

Hello all

Bob requested a photo of the SP steamer as shown in one of the videos ...

I believe it was the Icken Mountain or Mikado ...both these engines are very early construction 1930-32 ...one has double gear reduction the other triple gear reduction ..both run fine ...both have non standard wheel flange depths ..which cause issues at switches .. it was the wild wild west on back to back , tire width and flange depth till NMRA set standards ....for most things except the actual scale of O scale ...clearly stated 1/4" or 17/64th ..but that is another topic .

Very impressive Bob ....Lobaugh Mikes and Mountains are thin on the ground ( at least in my searching) ...do they have open gearing ? ( pre 1940) ..or the first enclosed gear box ? (1940-2 ) ...

They vary. Most are open on top, with a brass shield below the worm gear.

The NWSL Mod O.6 is the best replacement - 25:1, non-tower. Opinion.
