Is CP using a darker red on some locos or is that just older paint or some other anomaly?

They switched to a darker red a few years back with the "golden rodent" emblem on the side (throwback to the old beaver logo). They've dropped the beaver again but kept the darker paint. It's possible the older units will get the darker red paint on their next major servicing unless they switch everything back to the older brighter red.

CP actually changed again recently. The have gone back to a brighter shade of red and have revived the beaver logo, now without any shading. IMO it looks much better, the old golden beaver logos faded and generally looked pretty rough

Like the new/old red. Loose the beaver.

Really like the old CP Rail System colors/font. Clean, elegant.

What's not to like. Colors are striking but not jarring (e.g. BNSF pumpkin scheme), highly visible, cute sleeping kitten embedded in the capital C.

Original CSX scheme of gray primer may have saved money but looked like sh*t. I would have preffered they kept the old scheme and just added the merged systems initials to the mix to id what power pool locomotives were coming from.

Thanks for your nice array of photos.
I suppose that you have shown us almost every railroad in that area.

IMHO AMTRAK should hire some person with a little imagination to
come up with a scheme for their locos. The locos may have some
interesting shapes now but the paint sure is blah.
