Hev, buddy, I can't shoot a deer. My daughter would never forgive me. She cries when one of her brothers squashes a damn ladybug.

I had to do quite the convoluted con-job to be able to shoot that groundhog. Something along the lines of "groundhogs" and "deep burrow-holes", and "tractors" and "rollovers" and "favorite Daddy getting injured" and "hospital stays" and "no money" and "everybody starving" and having to "sell the house and live in a tent" and "eating bushes and sticks" (since we're not to be allowed to put Rosie, the family pug, on a spit) and "no more presents"...

Well, you get the idea. She bought it.
But it's groundhogs only.
And she means it.

Altho now that I think of it, maybe Rosalita could drag one of these horses to the family fire!!

I call this picture "The Standoff"

She gets barking like mad and chasing their legs and they go galloping off, but then they swing around and turn the tables, and Rosie hightails her fat *** outa there fast as her legs can carry her.
It's pretty comical!

Careful now.

Deer Attacks, Kills His Owner in N.Y.

The Associated Press
Sunday, November 12, 2006; 10:41 PM

ELLENBURG, N.Y. -- A deer being kept in a pen attacked and killed his owner Sunday, state police said.

The buck that killed Ronald Donah, 43, was among about a half dozen deer penned up on his property in Ellenburg, about 180 miles north of Albany, said state Trooper Joseph House.

Details of Donah's injuries and what may have prompted the attack were not available Sunday.

Maureen Wren, a spokeswoman for the state Department of Environmental Conservation, said Donah had a license to keep the white tail deer on his property but did not know why he was doing so.

She said deer attacks, at least in the wild, are extremely rare.

Donah was taken to CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh, where he died. An autopsy was scheduled for Monday.

Boys, one of the hobos sent this to me.
As you read it, you'll see the urgency:

AS YOU MAY ALREADY KNOW, IT IS A SIN FOR
A MUSLIM MALE TO SEE ANY WOMAN OTHER THAN
HIS WIFE NAKED, AND THAT HE MUST COMMIT
SUICIDE IF HE DOES. SO THIS SATURDAY AT 4 P.M.
EASTERN TIME ALL AMERICAN WOMEN ARE ASKED
TO WALK OUT OF THEIR HOUSE COMPLETELY NAKED
TO HELP WEED OUT ANY NEIGHBORHOOD TERRORISTS.
CIRCLING YOUR BLOCK FOR ONE HOUR IS RECOMMENDED.
FOR THIS ANTI-TERRORIST EFFORT, ALL MEN ARE TO
POSITION THEMSELVES IN LAWN CHAIRS IN FRONT
OF THEIR HOUSE TO PROVE THEY ARE NOT MUSLIM,
AND TO DEMONSTRATE THEY THINK IT'S OKAY TO SEE
NUDE WOMEN OTHER THAN THEIR WIFE AND TO SHOW
SUPPORT FOR ALL AMERICAN WOMEN. SINCE ISLAM ALSO
DOES NOT APPROVE OF ALCOHOL, A COLD 6-PACK AT YOUR
SIDE IS FURTHER PROOF OF YOUR ANTI-TERRORIST
SENTIMENT.

THE AMERICAN GOVERNMENT APPRECIATES YOUR
EFFORTS TO ROOT OUT TERRORISTS AND APPLAUDS
YOUR PARTICIPATION IN THIS ANTI-TERRORIST
ACTIVITY.

GOD BLESS AMERICA

Pete, you obviously haven't seen some of the women here in Maine. Morning is simply out of the question.

The soybeans had matured, green to gold to russet to umber, the field corn to yellow ochre, and the mechanical gleaners have crawled over rolling hill, sending chaff flying and rattling the golden grain into idled fieldside trucks awaiting their runs to the feed mills. With gorgeous view exposed anew by the clearing of obscuring-cornfields, there is nevertheless a foreboding in the denuded trees, grayed and wilting brush, and gunmetal sky. All those who got the urge for going (geese, songbird, hobo) have gone to warmer handouts. At night, the winter Hunter ascends into the eastern sky with bow drawn taut, as the mortally-stricken Swan of summer plunges head first into the western horizon. The woodpiles are stacked, barns and equipment battened down, and houses hunkered over their cast-iron, as wet November chill makes lead of even the most optimistic heart.

And the purpose of all this wretched prose?

Gentlemen, there is yet one cause for hope…

because it will soon be time …

for another installment…

of

Tramp’s annual free-range-turkey story!!

Ah, the anticipation is delicious!!

I have to add my encouragement to our vagabond poster boy. The free range turkey story is a Thanksgiving tradition.

Whoa!

Not another word until San posts the long-awaited streamliner shots.

There are more complications than usual this year as I insist on Coltrane-bred big boys who've been given the huge blue heroin juice while lounging in velvet satin for the long goodbye INTO MY SWEET MOUTH

ps. plus the hermit POET the MOLE from LOWELL is going to be in attendance. darling neurotic poet who takes a year in advance invitation to get past the agoraphobic deep bend to make it here out of his lovely tiny cabin in the wood. and speaking of wood, the wood man, the furniture maker is on the list as well. Together with our freshly delivered two cords of firewood for the wood stove, this should be quite the lovely wood-fired Thanksgiving.
