Frank..you got room up on that mantle for one more? My wife's mom has been diagnosed with cancer a couple days ago. Sure would mean a lot to me. Appreciate it.

Thanks...It was 4 years ago this Christmas that my mom passed with the same thing. It's hitting my wife hard because it seems that it's that 4 years all over again. We're hoping the doctors can work some mojo.

Best f luck and prayers for all. My best friend died six years ago from cancer.He was an airline pilot and knew I was a train nut.Just before he died,he gave me the Lionel C&O flyer set and got me back into the modeling side which I had not done since highschool{1948-1952}.Now I have a16x20 layout with no scenery in place.There will be a memorial to him somewhere on the layout.Enough said.Probably too much. roger

Jon, thanks for buying all those drinks last night when I wasn't at Gomers. I was picking up the divine D in Portland. Took her to Springer's, trusted jewelers since 1870, then to the Top of the East, then for sushi. Cheap evening! So with all the money I saved, I'll buy the first Friday night round.

Being too modest to mention it himself, I'd like to let you hobos know that the background behind my lantern, (intended to set a time-period), is a section of my beautiful drawing I bought from Tramp, done by his own hand. The light from the lantern doesn't begin to do it justice.

But not to dilute the intent of the lamp. I'll be keeping it lit over Christmas, with the hope it will do something, anything, for the two ladies who are in need this season.

If you are old enough to remember the 70s, and you remember your 28-year-old neighbor who still lived in his parents' basement and spent his whole paycheck making the "pad" look "really boss," then you have a good idea what this place looks like. Not a bad niche for enjoying an Old Crow and Coke or a game of pool or just staring shit-stoned at the lava lamps. The real crowd doesn't show up until about 10:30 p.m. or later.

Sounds a little wild for me, Dennis. I'll stay at Gomer's.
