Well, well, well. Finally got to reregister after all these months of fighting the system! Had to change my alias!

Mitch, keep up with the car info! Most interesting readings. My 27 TT truck vaporizer carb began flooding last summer. New floats, pivot pin, three needle valves and seats, gaskets and much foul language later...it STILL flooded. Went to Hershey last fall and bought an old carb setup from the scrapper, put it back together with its old parts and guess what...the old girl started right up and runs like a Swiss Timex! Got any explanation for this???

Imagine a really inexpensive (sixpence a throw) prostitute and how quickly she gets round the corner upon which she plies her trade, hence "corners like a sixpenny (or in the USA sometimes heard as a two-bit) whore". Might have made it all the more obscure by trying to tone it down slightly by using "prostitute' rather than "whore".

Nothing wrong with a steak to celebrate. Not so very long ago a steak was a very rare cut of meat; I don't remember even seeing one when I was a kid.

My grandmother fried steak that was covered with flour and was about a quarter inch thick and I didn't like it.
When I went to college my friend ordered steak medium rare.I did not know what he was talking about.When
the steak was served I didn't recognize it and asked what it was. Nobody laughed. Explanations were made and
I have been eating steak ever since.

Well, tonight saw me shake hands on an interesting two seater, though not what I originally had in mind. Barring unforeseen disaster, I'll be bringing home an MGB this week. It's kind of a mixed bag in that its a MkIII so the American marketplace requirements did it no favours. On the other hand it has a historical significance in that it is a 1980, so one of the very last made, one of the last cars (true MGs) built at the Abingdon plant, and truly represents the end of an era.

It is in decent shape, with solid pans and structure, stands and moves like it should, not a trailer-queen but not a rustbucket. Mechanics and electrics are all there and tight. Lots of little niggles here and there, but a good honest car. I'm looking forward to seeing if I can get just a little more out of the engine that early American enviroregs de-rated, but it already has a Weber and header setup on it; drives like it needs perhaps a little less backpressure to complement the carb rig. There is play-value potential here.

So, not the Spridget or another Spit I was expecting at my price-point, but an interesting car I wasn't really considering. I'm pretty chuffed.
