As the literacy rate declines, you’ll ask yourself why the quality of life continues to deteriorate in ways large and small, and in almost every instance the answer will be: because people stopped reading.

Very, very nice. The placement of the detail parts is great. A fine model.

Plodding since I've slowed down a lot due to too many non-model RR'ing distractions. And someone has to mow the lawn....

Yup, the sirens call of the lawn mower and hedge clippers is more than I can bear (never the community pool or the barbeque).

Good progress and looking splendid. Perhaps I'll recognize its purpose when it gets further along

Thanks!

Purpose? For me to have fun building it and to use up all sorts of misc. stuff laying about gathering dust,

Roof sheathing on - really like this red cedar from Kappler that I had stashed away.

Is this from a kit or your design?

My design based on photos of a resin kit that was available in a larger scale.

One of the miniature model ship makers I use has started selling digital files for 3D printing stuff on home printers. I don't have a 3D printer, but the library does. I'm wondering if they will print this stuff, or will they take a pass printing copyrighted material.

Well, if you paid for the file, that effectively grants you a license to use it under whatever the purchase terms are, so I'm not seeing the library having grounds for refusal.

Might be worth looking into, as well as what the projected cost would be. The digital files are reasonable, but if you only need a couple of a certain class of ship, probably not worth it (although if it's scalable, than that might make it interesting).
