Thanks, guys.

I'll be getting the roofing on soon. That undersheathing is some red cedar 2x10 that I have too much of so it's getting put to use here.

Interesting structure. Can you take a pic of the back side at a lower elevation and post it?

Thanks! Not easily now....roofing going on everywhere, 3 kinds, :wink: :wink:

s that a kit ? or complete scratch? I remember looking at a kit similar to your structure.

Complete scratch. I do on occasion take inspiration from kits; there were 3-4 photos that told me to head in "this direction." But it is quite a lot different than any kit. A lot of board by board construction. Will get the roofing done this weekend.

Yes; Builders-in-Scale. Wide selection of corrugated and standing seam metal roofing - comes in strips in various widths.

Thanks for the source. That stuff looks like something worth pursuing.

Sixty or more years ago, I had an uncle who was a big scratch-builder for his HO pike. I recall he made metal roofing from empty metal toothpaste tubes, slit length-wise, cleaned, then rolled with some sort of an embosser. They don't make toothpaste tubes out of metal anymore, probably haven't for a very long time.

I use a lot of it for metal roofing - nice & thin; good scissors work fine on it. They used to make copper roofing, too. Not sure they do or not...

You could still do that using the heavier grade aluminum foil, but that seems like work to me. :wink: :wink:

Old toothpaste tubes were an excellent source of soft metal for all sorts of projects. I used to melt the toothpaste tubes down to make lead weights for balancing model airplanes and the keel of my Dumas 15" sailboat.

Just like the tubes of paint, the original tubes for toothpaste were made of lead.
