As the literacy rate declines, you’ll ask yourself why the quality of life continues to deteriorate in ways large and small, and in almost every instance the answer will be: because people stopped reading.
Re: The Modelers Thread
Looks really sharp; nice color, nice decals, nice details all around. Tell me about those trucks; they look “light” given the length and probable weight of the car, but maybe that’s just the angle of the photo (or just me).

This year's offering to the saint of Christmas cookie. May your belly be full of homemade cookies St. Nick.

Those are 4-wheel passenger car trucks (All-Nation...) and the car is a 50' car as well. Might be the angle.......

Thanks, George!
Neil, - thanks for the kind words! Maybe, just maybe, somewhere (I try hard not to publish me
).....
..........if I get the time to sit and do a bit of writing.
In the meantime, on to the next project!

Re: The Modelers Thread
I heard a rumor that you published not just one but two members of this forum in a recent issue.

At least one; yes! Maybe more -- at least one that posts regularly over on OGR, too!
Okay, I do publish my own column, so there's 2 -- I just overlooked that,
Good stuff about model building and such that people write up with decent photos gets published...eventually as space becomes available.

Looks great to my eye. Has that ad hoc look about it which, considering its utility, seems appropriate.

Looking good. Freight depot? Small warehouse?
Your siding material...is that some sort of pre-scribed sheets of basswood? I've got a tinplate station project in mind, but the outer walls require a cut-stone/block texture. The original was of pressed steel or tin. I'm wondering if I could hand-emboss the texture onto a bit of thin corrugated cardboard. A billion years ago, a time when dinosaurs roamed the earth, I used an empty ballpoint pen for a similar project. Thinking there's likely something purpose-designed, I ordered a set of embossing tools; should be a good experiment.

Milled clapboard; available from Midwest, Kappler, Mt Albert, Northeast Scale,......available in several exposures as well for multiple scales.

Might be able to find something from Rail Scale Models or even Chooch (Walthers...) - been seeing a number of suppliers' stuff on eBay for all sorts of siding and textures.
