How much time, talent, and effort does it take to vacuum a room, compared to the time and care and tedium involved in "dusting" the hard-surface furniture? Eh? Huh?

Effort might be a lot depending on the flooring and what's in the room. Time - same answer. Talent - not so much unless you've got a lot of breakable items,

My friend's daughter bought 2. one for each floor of her house. A college grad with a masters. Let me quote her " Nobody told me they don't pickup dog sheet" Somehow she thought these things would sweep up dog poo.

Might work on cat poo (unless the cat is sick). Maybe she should try to trade in the dog for a cat. Or just try walking the dog, maybe twice a day? Oh wait, I forgot, she's too lazy to vacuum so I guess walking the dog is out of the question.

BTW, Roomba's don't do stairs. If you have multiple floors you are going to need multiple Roomba's or you will have to pick it up and move it from floor to floor, room to room (not my idea of "automatic"

What was her major?.....Underwater Basket Weaving? First question would be: Why are you letting the dog sh*t indoors?

I understand the roomba type vacuum is also affected by the amount of stuff in its cleaning area and height clearance.

Beats having the dog break the house.

I assume they are past that (housebreaking) and that no one is letting the dog out or walking it. Possibly no one home so the dog holds it until it can't.

Fenced in back yard and get a doggie door?
Hire a dog walker?
Take dog to vet in case there is a problem with the dog's health?

This person sounds like they are too stupid to own a dog!
