We have flip phones that are used to make phone calls now and then. That is all.
One cell phone is by my wifes bed that she uses to call me on the land line. The
other is in the car and is referred to as the car phone. Both are turned off now.
our kids think we need them for emergencies.

If the phone is going to be used to do all of this stuff like dim the lights, turn off
the TV, adjust the heat, see who is at the door, etc., don't some installations need
to be made and don't all of that cost more? All for convenience.

Wow, I thought worry over someone hacking your doorbell camera was overwhelming...

Hacking the doorbell is one thing, but have you seen that commercial with the dog burying the car keys and the owner then unlocking his car with the cell phone and driving off?

Do you really want your car keys and ignition, etc. functioning on your phone

No I don’t! Although a lot of people do. So much of life’s daily routines have moved to a cellphone.google pay, apple pay, samsung pay. And regular banking. Home security,car security and package delivery alerts. Dim the lights brighten the lights and turn the tv off. All this from a cell phone. July 8 my phone buzzed with so many alerts. Are you in Gaum, did you login from Santa fe? Robert are in in Italy? After responding no. Everyone of my account . Became frozen. I’m still dealing with some. Im not sure if technology caused the hacking or stopped the hacking.

I have a flip phone still........and no need for all those "conveniences" that one gets with a smart phone.

It may have been a blessing. I do nit use my phone for banking , paypal or any other financial situation. It was nice to get alerts about fraudulent use of your accounts.

No these alerts were had very specific directions. Along with several local numbers to call. In each case i spoke with a person i knew or recognized

Good! Lots of fake alerts sucking folks into bad things.

Dave, I agree completely.
I realize I am in a very small minority since a day without some athletic event does not affect me at all.
I now see how much sports dominate so many lives when I recently noticed that sports events up to four
and five decades old and live sports without live audiences are being shown for many hours on TV.
This is beyond my understanding. None of the watchers should ever have anything negative about those
that play with trains in the various ways.
