Now IMHO, rather than Rosie-the Riveter, who represented a strong, resourceful, motherly, responsible woman, we have tons of movie and rock star wannabe's, who care less about family and more about how they look, what they wear, how many guys look at their under dressed body (all the while ready to sue for harassment).

I'm sorry, but woman power has gone over the top. I was all for equal rights back in the day, but this isn't equal anymore. This is women using their sex to get ahead and then crying foul if someone gets out of line. You can't hardly find a male newsman on commercial or pay TV or if you do he's surrounded by a gaggle of women poured into their clothes and trying to look sexy. Wife says its because men want to see this, but I can't believe that's the complete reason.....although many of these shows are produced by women and they know what their doing. Do all guys think with their crotch?

She's right. Sells the products in the commercials -- it's all about the money - whatever gets viewers is top variable.

She did the pose and talked a little about her job and how many other ladies participated.

I hear that a lot and feel it can't be handled objectively. I'm sure there are exceptions where women are paid less, but:

If a woman works a union job, I would think pay would be equal, since unions are so strict. School teachers pay appears to be based on tenure. Commission sales equal. Nurses (male or female) paid on abilities. Doctors the same, I think. Fast food, grocery stores, sales clerks, etc., I don't know.

Women are now in formally male only jobs, and not sure how that works out for construction, street crews, refuse collection, etc., but it seems in today's transparent world pay disparity won't last long.

I've know of women who drew the same pay in jobs they couldn't do as well, due to physical strength, size, and ability. But, they got the job because they were female.

And I've known women who could kick the sh*t out of just about any man they chose to, if they wanted to.

I've run into very few cases where a woman got the job just because she was female. I have seen more cases where a misogynist boss hired an attractive female BECAUSE she was attractive and he thought he could exploit his position of power over her for personal gratification. Most of the men that got passed over for a female had greatly inflated opinions of themselves. They weren't as qualified as they thought and really couldn't except that. Some fell back on "I've been here longer" as a final line of defense. Wait, didn't you just say you were "more qualified". Supervisors that have trouble dealing with conflict will fall back on excusing their choices by saying "I had to hire so and so because she is a woman" rather than deal with explaining the guys deficiencies (which may very well be "you've been here too long!) which is the cowards way out and doesn't help anyone.

The NYC cops in 2001 probably bear little resemblance to the people currently holding those jobs. Then, they ran toward the danger to protect and serve. Now they shoot people in the back because they fear for their own safety? The vast majority of police don't engage in the later behavior. They do their jobs to the best of their ability. My main complaint is when these good guys help cover up for the bad apples. I haven't seen one instance where the officers stood up to the morons that make matters worse and we have seen one glaring case where they went the exact opposite way and stood up in defense of officers that knocked down an elderly unarmed man that was trying to return a piece of equipment.

But here's a yuk-yuk for ya based only on punctuation. What a difference commas can make :
