Bars are allowed to sell cocktails to go now. You can buy a 32oz mixed drink to go in Pennsylvania.

If I remember right, liquor stores in PA, OH, WV and others are operated by the state and they need the revenue and tax money.

That seems a big change for PA; buying liquor in a bar to go.

Most states the bars are not open at all.

If it had a restaurant/kitchen then they can open up the food service part for take out. Liquor license is more complicated. Beer and wine, maybe, depending on state and local regulations. Straight shots and cocktails probably not.

Why would people want to go to a bar only to take it home. What would happen if you get caught with an open container ?

Around here you can by all the booze you want at the market and Walmart. And whatever I might buy goes in the trunk for transport home. I never go to bars. Sometimes when I'm at a restaurant I might have a drink (one) with diner if the place has them. A beer or a glass of wine.

By the time I was legal to drink I was already married. No running the bars to pick up chicks, I already had one.

But before the wife and I were 21 and married we used to go out on a date to some pretty fancy restaurants. Got served drinks all the time. Never asked for them they asked us what we would like to have,

So we are in Hawaii on our honeymoon, met another couple on the boat that just got married so we were all going out to diner together. One day we are sitting out at the pool and ordered some drinks. They asked the girls to see their drivers licensees. Didn't ask for us guys. The girls thought that was hilarious. First time either had been questioned.
