Should not be; while a lot of people have no idea how to be alone, there's no real reason to be alone...........unless you suffer from a severe case of bromodosis. We get out, take walks, talk to neighbors at a distance, and not all that much really changes............but I could use that haircut,

Well, last time we went out 7-8 days ago, many less people were wearing masks, very noticeable from 3-4 weeks ago. It was both old and young people and I thought to myself "how cavalier, you're not invincible". Weather was sunny and warm. We have daily county covid reports and earlier this week cases were moving up, today it shows an increase of 226% over last week. This was the 1st week of phase 1 openings, so the results of that move won't show for 7-14 days. Very disgusted in people.

I was out yesterday morning; hit up the PO, picked up gravel and other stuff, and did a food run by at Panera. Few out and about, but No. VA is still closed. Most in masks and few w/o. Weather nice......... Mowed the front lawn and it seems my 4Ah battery is dying......no replacements for a month.

You are in Missouri right.

The last report I saw on Ky3 news from Springfield said that 55% of the cases in Missouri were in Saint Louis and 75% of the death were also in Saint Louis.

It's clearly correlated with population density

Contact tracing for outbreaks/flare ups form Asia also show that there is little or no margin for error in terms of dealing with it. In one case it was traced back to a single floor of an office building. You have to be very careful with social distancing, hand washing and face masks.

Contagion sensitivity level is pretty high on this -- real question then is also how did it get to that single floor of an office building; tracing it back further - someone carried it in from somewhere else.....and then back further........

Oh yes, there is always a source. This virus is incredibly contagious. Single carrier in a bar, at a barbecue, at a funeral manages to infect 10, 20, 100 people, in many cases, within a single contact incident. In every case the "victims" weren't helping themselves or anyone else by not practicing basic guidelines and hence the flare up/outbreak. Relaxing your diligence is kind of like playing Russian Roulette with five chambers loaded and one empty.

Will they ever be able trace this virus back to it's origin :?: The contention presently is that it started in a wet market.

But there is evidence that there is a lab in Wuhan that was studying the virus and that some American universities were working with them. It it possible that someone working at that lab could have accidentally been infected and didn't know it and have left the lab and infected someone else. :?:

It does seem like this virus affects different people differently.

It seems to vary from person to person.

Some people have it and don't know it and it has very little affect on them,

Others have it and have mild symptoms

Others have it and have severe symptoms

Older people with health issues get it and it's a death warrant for them.

Does it really matter? We don't really know where a lot of diseases really originate

The contention presently is that it started in a wet market.

Possible.....but then from where prior.

But there is evidence that there is a lab in Wuhan that was studying the virus and that some American universities were working with them. It it possible that someone working at that lab could have accidentally been infected and didn't know it and have left the lab and infected someone else. :?:

That seems to be the favorite of conspiracy theorists

Variable responses is not novel; age combined with other complications seem to be a real hazard area. This new thing going on with children is really odd and also scary.

The clinical course of infectious diseases in individual patients is particularly unpredictable. Examples include the vulnerability of the young and relative protection of the old during the 1918 flu pandemic, the exact opposite of the current coronavirus pandemic, where the young seem relatively protected from bad outcomes and the very old very vulnerable to fatal outcomes. Fully 60% of our fatalities locally are >80 years of age.

Coronavirus: A third of hospital patients develop dangerous blood clots
https://www.bbc.com/news/health-52662065

Up to 30% of patients who are seriously ill with coronavirus are developing dangerous blood clots, according to medical experts.

They say the clots, also known as thrombosis, could be contributing to the number of people dying.

Severe inflammation in the lungs - a natural response of the body to the virus - is behind their formation.

Patients worldwide are being affected by many medical complications of the virus, some of which can be fatal.

Back in March, as coronavirus was spreading across the globe, doctors started seeing far higher rates of clots in patients admitted to hospital than they would normally expect.

And there have been other surprises, including the discovery of hundreds of micro-clots in the lungs of some patients.

The virus has also increased cases of deep vein thrombosis - blood clots usually found in the leg - which can be life-threatening when fragments break off and move up the body into the lungs, blocking blood vessels.

Not in Georgia -- the highest infection rates (number of cases per 100K) are in rural counties.

Dougherty County in rural southwest GA has had 134 fatalities so far and its population is only population 89,500.

Cobb County, the Atlanta suburb where the NMRA national was held a few years ago, has had 132 fatalities and its population is 790,588.

Yes, St. Louis is definitely leading the pack in MO. But, this was Jackson County, MO which covers the KC metro area. We've been way behind with new cases and deaths for a fairly major metro area, but yesterday 176 new cases reported and more deaths.....226% increase.

Like many metro areas, ours is made up of numerous cities that run boarder to boarder going out 20-25 miles in each direction. I think it's a real disservice to show the county total and not show cases for each city. I thought this type information was meant to protect us. You know the country knows exactly where each of the cases is reported. I understand protecting the privacy of individuals, but if there are specific areas to be avoided in the metro, they need to let us know. All the local news channels are just as opaque, showing nothing but feel good BS and stories about what people are doing while at home. Give me some hard numbers so I know whats really going on.
