My grandmother had a rhubarb patch out back. In season we had stewed rhubarb-really face-puckering tart-and rhubarb pie. Blessed memory.

We grew our rhubarb in Long Beach, California. Mrs. Knott, over in Buena Park, California, grew it on the Knott farm. When she started serving chicken dinners, home grown rhubarb was on the table. Rhubarb leads the list of foods served at Mrs. Knott's Chickekn Dinner Restaurant.
