I'm guessing it's closer to the center of town than toward Nitterhouse, but the optimal word here is GUESSING. Chambersburg is an interesting place.

IMHO the 3rd ward school photo is very different from similar photos from that time period.
A lot of the students are actually smiling and so is the teacher! Must have been a nice school to attend.

It's been quite a spell since I was in that neck of the woods, but it was my impression that time had passed the place by (and that is NOT meant as a negative). I found the place rather fascinating.
