A new hosing development. Young trees.
Grandview even has a Grand entrance.
Probably a rather well to-do neighborhood.
But no form of transportation shown.

It is a little sterile in appearance - tracks in the road there - buggies or early horseless carriages....

Imagine how fun it would be to live on that street (with air conditioning, of course.)

Nope. Not good enough. I like it meat-locker cool, so that mayonnaise and raw meat could be left out on the kitchen counter with no worry . Yup. Crazy cool. :!:

I can empathize with that. One time, I had the temp set so low, in July , at night, that the furnace clicked on. I did have the sense to make the necessary adjustments in both thermostats to effect the proper sanity.

I wonder what that "lady" is doing sitting there with taht group of "gentlemen"?
Looks like our old gang on an up-town Saturday night.

I suspect that might be the cast of the current show at the theater?

It struck me as odd seeing her so far down on those steps - seems somehow unladylike for that era. A tad grubby.

I enjoy the casual effect achieved by that thin gentleman with his legs crossed at the shins. Makes him seem a sprightly, saucy fellow.

Which is why I suspect she is associated with "the theater".......

They are an interesting grouping and unlike all too many of the Laughlin cards, this one actually features some people which I again suspect were associated with the actual theater and/or the current production there.

I could be wrong and they could be a troupe of time travelers that dropped in just for the fun of it.

Those several empty-town, empty-station photos remind me of the layout work of a very talented modeler who has shared, on a couple forums, photos of his expertly weathered older neighborhoods and RR yard that don't have a modeled soul in sight. Beautiful work but somehow devoid of "life" represented. Lonesome towns and post-plaque atmospheres, IMHO. I am also reminded of a voice we used to enjoy here on MTJ that criticized my scenes for having "too many figures," which seemed to indicate they presented a crowded unrealistic impression.

All very interesting to me. And fun. I'm looking out my window right and all I see is a pse&g truck and two line men. I can travel into NYC and see a whole bunch more people standing and walking about. I guess it's all about having a realistic balance on a layout, but your photos remind me there are human habitats that can be temporarily bare of human figures. For the moment. But that's what we model, isn't it, a moment in time.

Balance - yes. Empty just seems all too sterile, like the pod people are getting busy or that the Andromedra Strain just dropped in for a visit.
