WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) today announced a streamlined and user-friendly web-based aircraft registration process for owners of small unmanned aircraft (UAS) weighing more than 0.55 pounds (250 grams) and less than 55 pounds (approx. 25 kilograms) including payloads such as on-board cameras.

Registration is a statutory requirement that applies to all aircraft. Under this rule, any owner of a small UAS who has previously operated an unmanned aircraft exclusively as a model aircraft prior to December 21, 2015, must register no later than February 19, 2016. Owners of any other UAS purchased for use as a model aircraft after December 21, 2015 must register before the first flight outdoors. Owners may use either the paper-based process or the new streamlined, web-based system. Owners using the new streamlined web-based system must be at least 13 years old to register.

Yep, you read it correctly. The government now wants the owner of any RC aircraft to register it with the FAA.
I feel safer already! Don't worry about the thousands of undocumented foreigners invading the U.S. Just register those RC planes, junior because the government is more worried about your RC plane while terrorists like Malik and Farook can just waltz into this country and kill innocent people.

My son, who did spend some time in the Navy in the 1970s,
retired from law enforcement after 30 years, is a registered
gun owner but says he will not register his weapons. Or
something like that. Must say I do not understand all of
that. I will never forget a history teacher I had in college
in the early 1950s who explained to us dummies how
Hitler was able to do some of what he did by requiring
registering of guns. He was not completely unbiased.
He was an Austrian Jew whose families was chased
around Europe. Before he made it to England with his
wife and mother the rest of their family were all killed
by the Nazis. Oh wait a minute. We are being told
today that the Holocaust was all a hoax.
