LOL, looks like it. This unit was being transferred from Oakwood Yard to Conrail North Yard. NS sends Conrail all the high hood units whenever possible because the NS crews hate using them

Re: Detroit Railfanning
CN 451

Amtrak 350

NS 171. This train ended up running into trouble and had to stop at CP Vinewood, blocking the CN and Conrail junctions and plugging up all the traffic on both railroads for a couple hours
[url=https://flic.kr/p/unyJJ6]
Past the Conrail tri-lights

CN 280

Conrail LV93. This one (Conrail Livernois Yard job) does not normally run up to Conrail North Yard so it was surprising to see this show up.

CN 533

NS 27V

NS 176

The steps are for the remote control locomotive crews. Sometimes they operate the engines on that end of the yard out of a truck (for range) and that just makes getting up to track level a little easier
Re: Detroit Railfanning
Interesting. See if you can get a photo of that happening.

Re: Detroit Railfanning
That was a nice scheme.
The UP and BNSF units always look cleaner than lother units in your photos.
Are they or is this an illusion due to colors used? Is there a washer in the area?

I guess the UP yellow (and BNSF Orange to some extent) hides some of the dirt. I don't think there are any wash racks for power around here, but I could be wrong. The dirt and grime shows up real well on the CN black and CSX dark blue. Around here it mostly mud and not dust so it is darker than what the western power normally gets

Re: Detroit Railfanning
Caught the CSX West Detroit Branch job, explored some downriver Detroit sights and caught some trains in Toledo, OH on 7/17/15
CSX West Detroit Branch. This line starts at CSX Oak Yard and serves several industries, including a scrap yard and a Coke bottling plant. It goes through some 'rural' crossings deep in the 'hood

Fullerton Junction, aka the "Stop Sign Junction"

Deep in the hood

CSX Y122 at Rougemere

FURX SD40-2

Three original GTW GP38-2s, 5850, 5857 and 5853 on the D&TSL in Trenton

NS 322 at Trenton with a surprise- a freshly repainted high nose SD40-2

NS 415 street running in Monroe, MI

New Crescent cab GP38-2 on the street running track shoving with a N&W caboose

CSX autorack train on the way to Ohio

Vickers Diamond in Toledo. This is the NS Chicago Line, and these 3 trains came within a 25 minute window

CSX waiting for clearance

NS Chicago Line at the Toledo Amtrak station

Ann Arbor Ottawa yard in Toledo, Oh

Freshly-painted Ann Arbor (WAMX) 3879. The Ann Arbor employees petitioned Watco to keep the DT&I orange paint job instead of the standard black/yellow Watco paint scheme so when this was repainted in June they re-did the AA orange scheme the unit received when the AA bought it from Conrail in the 80's

CSX Q131 at Ecorse Junction back in Detroit

Detroit Salt Co. switching with HLCX 0007
