Nice Steve. I caught and rode those buses many times between the ferry terminal and the stop at Vanderbilt Ave. and Tompkins Ave.

PS I do remember a different version of bus running also that seemed narrower and had a slightly different profile. Know what it was?

Nice work Steve, did you have to paint them? The scene looks like it's missing a cab or a car service car..

Great choice of advertisements on the sides Looks good.

Brian
I don't think there was such a thing as Car Service when these buses were in service.

Matt / Steve

I believe a "different version bus" running in Staten Island in the 1940's or early 1950's was manufactured by MACK.

Macks ran into the 1970's which would make a nice model as well.
The majority of the SI fleet were Macks for many years.

If anyone at Corgi, now Hornby had a clue on how to make money, they would produce all the NYCTA model buses.
Hopefully if they do, it will be a correct version of the green fishbowls.
If you put the overpriced Corgi buses under a microscope, you will notice all the mistakes they actually contain.

Not sure about your question Matt???
Brian,buses and taxi's were separate.
I am in the process of finishing 2 batwing,bus o rama,billboard buses.

Hey Steve,

Not sure if my question made sense but I do remember two different types of buses as a kid. I am sure Mack was one of them as was previously stated. Maybe the ones you did in the pics above are the ones I am talking about in my post. Anyway I do miss the sound of the farebox!

New York City Bus Fare Box is now on Ebay with $99 starting bid

BRIAN
People who didn't have cars in the 1940's and 1950's rode the local bus, trolleys, and subways when the fares were 5, 10, 15 cents;
it was still less expensive for four people to use public transportation than a taxi cab or any car service in most metropolitan areas.
This changed somewhat when the individual fares increased after the 1960's when it went from 20 cents and then increased to $2+
Except around the airports, car service using those stretched Limos didn't appear until after they stopped making CHECKER's in 1982.
