Interesting story with this next one. My Dad was rooting through my Grandparents (my Mom's parents) attic one day in the late 70's and found a box with some trains in it. The engine was in bad shape, frame rotted, shell crushed by something, wheels broke. But it was blue. The Blue Comet. Good thing was all the cars were in good shape, just the engine and tender were beat up. He started the process to fix it up, but never finished it. So I took over a few years ago and got it done. We had to replace the frame, wheels and a few trim pieces, but most is original.

Dave, That is one beautiful restoration! Absolutely super job! I've longed for a Blue Comet for some time now.

I was mistaken. I do own some prewar RR crosing signs. I'll post photos soon.

This one I haven't started yet. The other side is messed up pretty good. Some had put stickers on it. You can see some of the residue on this side. I've tried to get it off without messing up the paint, because this one isn't too bad, but the sticker stuff screws it up.

Try some WD40 to remove the sticker residue. It won't harm the paint.

I tried WD-40 and it didn't come off. Its like the sticky part melded to the paint. The stickers must have been on there for a while, they were pretty faded out. Probably sat in an attic and baked on to the paint.

Hello Dave!

I like your restorations, especially the Blue Comet. Way to go! Imagine what you can do with a 1688/1668/238E Torpedo. :D :D 8) Take Care.
