All:

Does anyone own one of these? I am having a lot of trouble interpreting the manual. I think it was written by a non-English speaker who had the additional advantage of having never assembled the tool.

If you own one, please respond to this thread.

Thanks,

George

George, I have never had Proxxon Scroll Saw DS 115/E.

So, I am curious about how many pieces it comes in.

I looked at the instruction manual online and found that the only assembly was to fasten the saw bow to the machine.

INSTRUCTIONS
1. Wear a hair net.
2. Fasten the saw bow with the two screws included onto the rear side of the machine.
3. Insert the saw blade with teeth facing downward.
4. Attach the device to the mains and switch it on.
5. Feed work into the blade.

There were also instructions about adjusting the Vertical adjustment and the saw blade guide.

There must be more to it than that, or you would not have asked for help.

I'm not sure that George needs the hair net, :?

Maybe looking on YouTube or checking on at Reddit might get you some practical information?

Aha! I found a video by Mike Goodwin about assembling a Proxxon Scroll Saw DS 115: https://youtu.be/wrWhjPp73Bw?si=qNwIi70TEKBPksJk
I have a suggestion: turn your audio off while you watch the video (unless you understand Czech; then leave the audio on).
Also, sometimes Google fails to load the video. Try one of these links.

Webenda:

I really appreciate that you found these videos.

I should have remembered that Model Train Journal has the best signal to noise ratio of any forum I have ever been on. I always get intelligent answers here.

I will watch these videos and then possibly re-think my decision to return this saw. The DS 115/E differs from the one in the first video. It has no hinged arm. Installing a blade in it is very difficult.

I spent about an hour speaking with Proxxon technical support and while helpful, the experience has left me VERY frustrated.

Best,

George
And no, I don't need a hair net.

Just to close the loop, I regretfully returned the saw to Proxxon.

That much money and that much aggravation just didn't sit right with me.

There is a Micro-Mark saw that is more expensive. However, it has a hinged arm, which should make it easier to use. And I've already downloaded the instructions, which appear to be better written.

We'll see.

George
